Cannot get game to run

Really wanted to play this as it looks just my sort of game, but after loading, any option I select, like Story so far, or New Game, I get a C++ Runtime error "This application has requestd the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." I am running Win 7, SP 1, 4 GB Ram, 2.4 GHz processor
