Game crashing at launch
While original game works fine without any issues remastered version is crashing at start (reproduction rate 10 times out of 10) unable to try the game at all.

From what i can see game is trying to run Alienware AlienFX and ends up crashing, similar situations happened with different games with AlienFX feature but developers managed to fix it. PS. im using Alienware TactX Keyboard if that's helps.

Hi,
1) Is the game crashing immediately, or you can still see the tinyBuild logo at the beginning?
2) What kind of system do you have?

1) The game is crashing immediately, just black screen and no logo, i can see that AlienFX lights on my keyboard turns off meaning that game tried to activate the lights but failed.

2)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
ASUS GTX 560 Ti 448-cores DCII 1.2GB
AMD Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3GHz
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600mhz
Asus M5A99X EVO
Alienware TactX Keyboard

Thanks, I'll have a look at it tomorrow

start the game while launching the game, make sure you are not running in fullscreen, seem to have done the trick. It could be a problem on switchable graphic, too tired atm to test anything since is 1 am lol

I cant even get to the settings menu, anyway switched to windowed mode using Alt+Enter and this is what i get https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20689087/screens/NoTimeToExplain/Untitled.png

Edit: nvm i can get to resolution selection holding shift before launching the game, but this does not resolve the issue, the game is still crashing no matter what.

I'm not sure if the keyboard is causing the crash, but it seems likely.

I could not reproduce the issue you are experiencing. I tried different systems (AlienWare and non-AlienWare), and with different peripherals. However, I don't have an TactX keyboard, and it seems that there are more games that don't work with that keyboard.

Expect a build soon where you can turn the AlienFX off when desired.

In the meantime, could you try playing with a different keyboard? If that doesn't work, what happens when you uninstall or update the AlienWare Command Center?

After yesterday's update i can now see the tinyBuild logo but that's it, when i press space to start the game it is crashing just like before the patch.

Also i have unplugging keyboard and uninstalled keyboard drivers and Alienware Command Center and tested with different keyboard and game seems to work that way, so it is something to do with keyboard or its drivers. Unfortunately i couldn't find any Alienware Command Center update for a non-Alienware systems, my keyboard drivers are the same version as from the Dell website, however AlienFX lights works perfectly with games like Payday: The Heist, Payday 2, Metro: Last Light, Dying Light and so on.

Looks like turn able on/off AlienFX feature when desired would be perfect solution for this.

Update, I do own a alienware m14r2. The game seem to run fin on windows but not fullscreen (I have to kill the process). If I run the game in windows mode, I notice my keyboard go from red to black, and occasionaly flicker a gree color. Not sure what I can do to help but I might try a few experiment.

@Jur1z: Ok, at least we know it has something to do with the AlienFX.

In the latest build, you can turn this off by opening the menu before the game crashes. (So after you've pressed A to start, but before the screen fades out.) Choose Options > Advanced > AlienFX.

For reference, this is what the lights are supposed to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rhiyFWEvVY

@Ninto: Does it help for you to turn off AlienFX in the game as described above?
Ninto Aug 5, 2015 @ 6:53am
before, I was not able to boot the game unless I switch to windows, the keyboard light became mostly dark and occasionaly flicker odd color that constantly switch. Now, I am able to boot on fullscreen as well (possibly with your last build). Keep in mind alienfx is on so far.

Now, I turn off alienfx from the game (since you add that option now) and my keyboard return to normal (always red).

I also notice a big fps drop that happen randomly, either thanks to alienfx on or the game refusing to use the nvdia card (yay for switchable graphic on a gaming laptop <.<). I finaly beat the game as well but I will give it another go with alienfx off to see if I have the same issue, if not, then is another problem and not related to this one.
Idk f u or sm Jun 30, 2016 @ 10:47am
@wytzeaaa I got the same problem here and if i turn AlienFX off it crashes again. But after a restart it's working without any problems ^^
