Last 2 familiars

So I've read numerous posts about the last 2 familiars but they're all old, anyway they're saying they're a random reward after the Ifrit or Raven bosses. Some say you have to wear the shiny rock.

I've done them 10+ times, holding the shiny rock, and have not seen any familiar drop. Is this still how they're obtained or has it changed?

Ok took me about 2 hours straight, quite ridiculous considering that's about 20% of my playtime.

At this point I think that the Shiny Rock is just an urban legend.
I got both familiars after facing the Raven Boss (not at the same time), one with 2 shiny rocks and one without the rocks. Both after dozens of tries.
It just seems to be random, if they have any effect on the RNG it must be minimal, like +1% chance or something...

And yes, I agree that it's quite ridiculous as it also has the side effect of making you grind so much you overpower the whole game, I had my forbidden tome at level 200+ in my first normal playthrough when I was done with those two familiars. The poor final boss just had no chance.
This also tends to trivialize the Nightmare level 1 runs as well in New Game +.

And I didn't even find the Eternal Robe (if it's like the Eternal Crown, it seems to be worse than Empire gear anyway...)

Yup I ended the grind at level 100, melee orbs somewhere between 350 and 400... I started NG+ in Nightmare and it's trivial.

It's a shame because it kind of ruined my enjoyment of what was otherwise a more than excellent game.

i got it, wearing the shiny rock, the first time i beat ravenlord.

and yeah i like the idea of a NG+ nightmare+ mode that isn't capping you at level 1 but is harder in other ways

also if it added another map that would be cool

hi, i know it's a long time post but i have an answer from what you said.
There was a way to open chest very quickly, kill the boss go back to save point and open it. If it's not what you are looking for, go back to the main menu and continue to open it again until you get what you want, no need to do all rooms and boss again. I get Kobo quick but not the crow, tried it so many time and only get eternal stuff and pearl again and again. And i saw your messages here and tried with the shiny rock and got the crow from the first try. To be sure it wasn't just luck, i restarted and kept the rock and tried it five more time and got it 2 other time, when i didn't get it at all after 30min trying the same way. So the shiny rock definitively works for the crow, not to say it's almost mandatory.

I got to max level and never got either of the two random familiars, but there is a cheat code to enter (built into the game, not hacks) you can use to get them if you want to go that route.

I believe the Shiny Rock is required for the crow. I got the robot before buying it.

Before buying the rock I reset the chest after Ravenlord 20+ times and didn't get it. I bought it but didn't equip it, went back to the Ravenlord and reset the chest another 20+ times. Still no. As soon as I equipped it I got the raven the next try.

I didn't get to try Ifrit.

You´re right, For get the crow , you need buy the Shiny rock. I beat Ravenlord so many times and nothing when i equipped the shiny stone , in next try a got.
