Crackling/Popping sound
I haven't been able to get info on this (when I Google it I just get general info about Windows 10, but it only happens with this game), but my Timespinner game has very annoying cracking/crackling/popping audio.

I've tried with two different pairs of headphones and it happens on both.

As mentioned, it doesn't happen with other games or with Windows 10 generally, only this.

I really want to play this game but this issue is tilting me to no end, so please advise! :)

Hi, sorry to hear that you're hitting this! This is the first I've heard of this particular issue.

Can you tell me more about your PC? Is it Windows 10? Are you using the Steam version or the Xbox PC (Games Pass) version?

Have you updated all of your drivers? Audio, graphics, etc. And updated your OS to latest?

Have you tried adjusting in-game sound options to narrow down the category of popping? Ie: If you lower Master Volume to 0, does it still happen? What about just Music? Or just Sound Effects?

hey there! sorry for the late reply. I'm on Windows 10 and using the Steam version. The answer to your questions is that the popping only happens when there is sound (be it music or sfx), so I suppose perhaps I should have called it "distortion" or something instead.

however, the good news is that, knock on wood, I appear to have fixed it somehow; the issue appears to be with the headphones that I was using (edit: and that I was only having the issue with Timespinner).

thanks for the reply, and I'll take this opportunity to say that the game is wonderful! Makes it harder to go back and play old Castlevanias tbh :P

Same issue here. Crackling audio starts reliably after about 1 hour of the game running and gets progressively worse until it's restarted.

Windows 10

Xbox Gamepass Version

Running at 120 mhz refresh

Logitech G430 USB headset as sound device

Based on previous experiences with this issue (cracking sound that gets gradually worse) I would advise checking for a memory leak. Given the lack of any older posts relating to this issue it could be unique to the Windows 10 version of the game.

Please update if you find anything relevant.

I was having the same issue in Windows 10, and what fixed it for me was turning off Spacial sound (Windows Sonic for Headphones).

I was searching around to see if anyone was having this problem, and there it is.

Windows 10
Steam Version
Headphones: Corsair Void Pro

This is pretty much guaranteed to start happening after about 1-2 hours of play time, and gets worse and worse if the game isn't reset. Feels like a memory leak, considering the way the issue presents itself.

Don't think the dev is going to reply anymore, but have you guys after Meganon tried his/her solution (turn off Spatial Sounds, i.e. "Windows Sonic For Headphones," in Windows)? Like I said I'm not sure what fixed my Timespinner issue, but I do know that "WIndows Sonic for Headphones" has made other apps e.g. Diablo 3 sound terrible.

edit: clarity

sure, maybe your computer is different but on mine (Windows 10):

1) right click on the volume icon in bottom right of your screen
2) go up to where it says "spatial sound"
3) if it says "spatial sound (Windows Sonic for Headphones)" then turn it off.

If during step 3 it already said "off," then that wasn't the issue, heh.

Anyways, hopes this helps.
