Lufia 2
Is this inspired around the ancient cave? Seems familiar. Especially with the escape wings reminding me of Providence.

Yes, the Ancient Cave from Lufia 2 is a big inspiration for the artifact system.

I really got that Lufia 2 feel as well. Such a great game.

Probably the best thing to be a derivation of, Ancient Cave lent the Lufia series a ridiculous amount of replay value for such a relatively simple thing.

I remember the ancient cave ...it was a pain to get down to the last floor. And the boss was the meanest boss I have ever met. How could I know that in order to "beat" him I have to clobber myself ?

Essentially the Enchanted Cave games borrows a few things from Lufia, such as there being 100 random floors and the monster sprites looking similar, but adds own inspiration to make a more casual but still enjoyable game that takes a few hours to play through and then some more to complete 100 percent.
Yes, the artifacts pretty much equal the blue chest items, but the permanent upgrades to the character are a welcome addition to the game that makes every attempt still a rewarding experience, unlike Lufia 2 where you just hope to find that one last Iris item, redoing the same again and again.
Although here it might also end in just redoing the same again and again, at least for me until I found all artifacts. If you look for more challenge, you can try New Game + which I will do after finding everything, to make grinding the final levels to get all skill points a bit faster.

The Ancient Cave is one of my favorite things about the Lufia series--especially The Legend Returns since it's on its own island

Interesting to know Lufia 2 was an inspiration for this game. That was the first game where I encountered this kind of system in a game, but just because of it's looks and feel .. it reminded me and made me think more that it was based on Azure Dreams. I'm having fun with this game and have no serious complaints. It feels a bit too automated, but what purpose does me really hitting a button over and over to attack really serve in the end? I think it was available on mobile devices and stuff, too, so the very "click friendly" or "touch friendly" play style makes even more sense because of it.

On the plus side, the automation + low system resources to run it, make it the ideal game to play while talking to friends or doing something that requires me to keep tabbing out of it.

Would love to see a more Azure Dreams style sequel to this, Enchanted Cave 3!
