Just want to confirm possible build?
I only have under 2 hours played and have just recently reached floor 18.

I started at the spellsword character, and every level up to 10 i grabbed +2 mana, i'm now going to start getting +1 magic.

I beelined my skill points straight to the Transmute spell because i thought i could make money turning a lot of items into artifacts, and then i spent the rest of my skill points in the top tree, max mp, magic, ect.

Now my train of thought is i recently gained a mages helm that comes with 1 mp regen, which only activates on an enemy kill.

Now i'm thinking, what if i can enchant/forge 2 mp regen per slot on all slots, that could potentially be 20 mana per kill.

Now i don't really need max mana if i invest in magic, that way the heal amount increases, and the damage dealt by those single battle spells increases.

They cost 7 per use, and if i can restore 20 mana on kill, then potentially i can eventually exploit weaknesses, one shot kill most mobs and keep maximum mana, thus sustaining my health and mana indefinitely?

I really hope whatever material adds mp regen comes from the next 30 floors.

Beware, enemies get MUCH stronger as you go deeper in floors so remember that you can't keep using the same equipment throughout the game. I try to find something better within 10 floors at most, ideally (as it could be lethal if I don't do it within 20). Learn the crafting material types as you go and if you get a good one early, try to save it for an equipment slot you're aiming to upgrade (unless you need it right away and have an opportunity to use it).

Transmute is very useful for saving useful items of various kinds... unless you're trying to do the achievement where you don't return to town ever, of course. That would be the exception, otherwise points aren't wasted there in my opinion.

Mana regen is a very wise move, and health regen can be good when you don't have what you need for the mana regen (since it saves mana you might have used to heal).

You might just want to put all points you can into beefing up your character's defences (your magic offence is probably the next best thing to put points in every now and then if you're feeling okay otherwise). If there are hearts on the way to something else you'd like to have, you can get those. Also, don't ignore crafting and potions-- they're a huge help to survivability since you can craft potions anywhere and they can make materials you'd never use for your equipment suddenly become very useful. That being said, although I am a glass cannon fan in other games, I haven't tried it for this one since it's so risky once you get past the early stages.
Im up to floor 50 something, i used wings, i was fine in there, i have 13 mana regen and i was doing around 200dmg with any element to non weakness, around 300dmg to weakness.

The character i'm playing is mainly magic based. I have a striker, about 200 armor, and 200 magic now. Sitting on nearly 700hp, those undead vikings deal the most damage at about 60hp per hit to me, but i just slay em with 2 quick light magic attacks, for 14mana, kill for 13, so 1 mana per kill, and i usually dont get hit.

This build im using is working for me, i can heal 200hp with just 20 mana and i have 460mp.

I usually sell most materials, if their not mp regen, mp restore or hp restore, i sell them, i use mp regen to forge and mp/hp to alchemy.

Im just now branching down the alchemy/enchant/item chance tree now.

I also got telekenisis so i can steal chests if i dont want to fight an army.

Cool, sounds like you're doing alright. You'll probably really know if it's working for you around level 70 or 80.

(And I'll probably also go for a glass cannon build myself soon, once I can get back around to this game!)

i will try a Mage too now. with my Warrior i made it to NG+1 and now i stuck hard on Stage 90-99.... i stop playing Warrior now. Armor and Attack is absolute useless at the final boss :(

I feel you. When I got to the last floor for my first time, I was sooo overconfident I didn't even think I'd need to heal first or prepare any potions or anything. I was convinced I'd get an opportunity to scout out the room or there'd be a scene first but then I could use my wings to go back and prepare. Whoops! Guess I was spoiled, since early-to-mid game, the bosses are often easier than dealing with a whole floor of the current enemies for their floor.

I got to the final boss in story mode as a mage type character that has 34mp per kill, mostly hits with spell attacks, takes 6 spells at 7mp cost for 42mp to kill a white dragon and still take about 200-300dmg that needs to be healed, not very efficient.

I started an alt, on the labyrinth mode, got stuck at floor 11, due to the insane difficulty ramp, this character went with the combat tree, was faster to level, but relied on potions and outclassing defense to negate all damage.

So i'm going to create 1 more character, highest starting attack damage, go full combat, get the skills for heal then full explorations tree.

Ideally always start at floor zero to get as many gem upgrades as possible.

I think the endgame & NG+ requires a decent amount of gem acquisition. Relying on atleast 100-150 attack, 100-150 defense, 1000+ hp from gems alone for the endgame content and preparedness for NG+, without farming those gems, THEN the game feels unfair.

max hp is most important if you plan to do ng+ (think i was once at ng16) and had around 15k hp which need lot of time to farm because boss do a huge amount of dmg you need that to cover at least one hit and survive it. mp reg hp reg crit atk or defense r useless later. because if a boss do 10k dmg each hit you cant get enough defensive stats for that. same goes for your attack stats. you can only do decent dmg with magic.
