Save games lost
I haven't played for about two weeks, and when starting Steam on MacOS I suddenly only find the original two stories, like if I haven't played at all.

I've put in over 5 hours and have a bunch of achievements, so I can prove it ;-)

Any way to get my save files back?

Oh, I figured it out: I was checking the location for the save files as per the tech support thread, but couldn't find the specified director. I did find these two though:

~/Library/Application Support/com.spookydoorway.darkside.osx
~/Library/Application Support/com.spookydoorway.thedarksidedetective

It looked like "darkside.osx" contained my older save files, and "thedarksidedetective" newer ones from when I ran the game today. I backed up the files and moved the .save files from "darkside.osx" to "thedarksidedetective" and they were restored :-)

Steam asked me if I wanted to use these save files or download the ones stored in their cloud, but since the cloud files were those saved today, I opted to use my local files.

Anyway, problem fixed, hope this helps someone else. I love the game, awesome work Spooky Doorway folks!!

(Edit: the only file missing seems to be the Xmas shopping one? It was the last one and it was already unlocked when I bought the game. Now I have six files, five of which I played and "Don Of The Dead" that I was playing. Am I missing anything? How about that extra episode released recently?)

Hey, this is a known issue and we're pushing a fix this week. In the meantime, the new cases will unlock after Don Of The Dead or you can send us your save files as per tech support thread and we can unlock the new stuff for you.

It seems to be fixed for now so I'm good. Otherwise I know where to get in touch with you.

Thanks for the quick reply, good luck with the fix!

So, just to be awkward, I've changed the location back :P
If you have the same problem again after the update just pop the files back into the original location! Sorry for the messing about and thanks for keeping us updated! :)

I also have that problem. I had kep a backup of my Baits Motel save, but when I try to use it in the saves folder, it gets ignored after the game starts. The game starts as if I never played Baits Motel.

For anyone who, like me, couldn't find their files on their Mac at first. My User library was hidden so I did the following:

- Go to Users, click your own name
- Go to the ‘Go’ menu in the toolbar
- Click the Alt (option) button to reveal hidden folders, and Library will now pop up in the dropdown menu
I got that from here which has other ways of finding hidden folders too: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
