~/Library/Application Support/com.spookydoorway.darkside.osx
~/Library/Application Support/com.spookydoorway.thedarksidedetective
It looked like "darkside.osx" contained my older save files, and "thedarksidedetective" newer ones from when I ran the game today. I backed up the files and moved the .save files from "darkside.osx" to "thedarksidedetective" and they were restored :-)
Steam asked me if I wanted to use these save files or download the ones stored in their cloud, but since the cloud files were those saved today, I opted to use my local files.
Anyway, problem fixed, hope this helps someone else. I love the game, awesome work Spooky Doorway folks!!
(Edit: the only file missing seems to be the Xmas shopping one? It was the last one and it was already unlocked when I bought the game. Now I have six files, five of which I played and "Don Of The Dead" that I was playing. Am I missing anything? How about that extra episode released recently?)
Thanks for the quick reply, good luck with the fix!
If you have the same problem again after the update just pop the files back into the original location! Sorry for the messing about and thanks for keeping us updated! :)
- Go to Users, click your own name
- Go to the ‘Go’ menu in the toolbar
- Click the Alt (option) button to reveal hidden folders, and Library will now pop up in the dropdown menu
I got that from here which has other ways of finding hidden folders too: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
