Marvel's Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns

Under 10 Bucks for "Midnight Suns"? Are you a Marvel Movie fan? TRY IT.
I don't get the game myself -- I'm really not into the Marvel movies, definitely not recently. so the humor and the social hangout fantasy is all just pretty lost on me with this game ... but I can see what's there, and for what it is, it's fantastic. you really do just get to hang out with Tony Snark, Blade, uh ... Captain Marvel. living in a group home with a customizable room and everything. it's much like MCU 'Hogwarts Legacy', only there's actual depth beyond the surface.

I really urge anybody who's into those Marvel movies and in trying something different to give this a shot. it's so rare I go out for a game like this publically - especially one that's not for me personally - but under 10 dollars? you're getting a LOT.

if this game released back when the Marvel movies were still the cultural events they were in the mid-late 2010's this would've been something. it really didn't deserve to flop. even I can see it's worth WAY more than 10 bucks American.

like I said: if the Iron Man or Doctor Strange movies are your thing? absolutely give it a go. you at least get a 2-hour trial.

card-based X-Com Marvel Movie, made with quality and care. I wish I could get into it myself. a pretty undervalued game, imo. it came out post-Infinity War, so I guess bad timing? I dunno why it bombed. try!

I'm hopeful for Secret wars, it could really boost this game and maybe that Midnight sun's Tv show will show up. Honestly though, there is so much marvel, i don't know how people expect to like it all. Even the stuff back in the 00's i like about half the time. There has been some good stuff in the last 5 years for sure, some just isn't made for me, and i'm ok with that.
It's a great game, but don't compare it to X-Com, the combat mecanism are very different and people expecting a XCOM-like were very disappointed, that's one of the reasons the game flopped commercially.

Practically, for the fighting bits, the game is closer to Magic or Hearthstone, but with 3D Characters.

There is also an interesting aspect of exploration and puzzle solving for the parts in the Abbey that I would compare to Myst, and the story is really excelllent and hooking !

It's an unique game, you really need to try it if you are a Marvel fan !

@captain very true, and you can't explain this enough.

Midnight sun's, A positional Card game that you trade turns with Character based narrative.

X-com, an initiative based RPG with a turn based Grid with a light story and fodder heroes.

They are nothing alike.

I think the reason it flopped commercially was because it's relatively niche as a tactical RPG combined with a deck builder, along with the Midnight Suns not being particularly well-known.
Yeah, indeed most people who like Marvel Movies but are not hardcore Marvel comics fans had never heard about "The "Midnight Suns" (which were spelled "The Midnight Sons" in the comics, for even more confusion)

More popular characters like Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Spiderman, Blade and Wolverine are in the game and important members of your team but I'm not even sure the audience to which the game was advertised got the message...

Im a huge marvel fan going back a very long time and i never head of Midnight sun's. I did hear of the runaway's though, but only from the tv show and had no idea that had a Nico.

They really took a chance on a very niche group.

@captain really did like the comparison to Myst 3D, that was very apt, i never thought of it like that.

You know another thing i don't see people talk about much, the avengers came out about the same time and was not that well received, so i think this game took a lot of the 'Modern Marvel" hate that came along with it as collateral damage. That game came out to bad reviews, so people automatically thought this would be bad too with out even looking into it, despite it's mostly positive reception. I think timing was a big part of this not taking off.

I still hope word of mouth can save it to some degree. There are lots of games that had their most profitable years many years post launch.
