Crossbones bomb mission

You have to defeat him before the bomb goes after after 2 turns. I did exactly that, but the mission didn't complete. The bomb went off the next turn and game over. Wtf? Why? I can't find anything online about this.

The game makes an autosave before every mission so if you get a game over load from the autosave and try again or just click on Restart Encounter after you fail.

If its the mission in Act III, then there should be an enemy that drops a mission card that delays the bomb by a turn. The card can be rerolled to delay it by an additional turn. The next turn another enemy spawned with the same card.

I can give a bit more advice if you're in Act III, I am trying to avoid spoilers :)

Is this one of those where if the countdown shows one turn left that one turn is the current one?

You have to down him twice. First time I manage it there was only one turn left so it game overed. I just didn't fathom it would be doable twice but it was in the end. Frustrating mission, one of the hardest so far.
