Normal to be getting 100c temp?
Noticed that when playing this game despite set to optimal settings my RTX 2080 keeps hitting around 106c

First off; do not let it stay there for any extended amount of time, or you will soon be lacking a GPU.

With that out of the way. Try going to the GPU settings and force a limitation of frames per second. I have noticed that specifically during cutscenes the game doesn't respect the ingame FPS cap, but my machine handles it okay so I never looked for ways to fix it. There's all the usual troubleshooting steps, and I absolutely recommend going through those, but this is the one I've found that's particular to this game.

What fps limitation number would you reccommend

Is this on a laptop by chance? I play on a 2060 laptop and it hovers around 90C with frames limited at 60. 106 is pushing into fried territory.

100 c is NOT acceptable , that means the game is pushing your GPU hard but your GPU has temp problems as well .

It should not be running at 100c even at 100% GPU LOAD .

May want to open it up and blow out the dust and/or install a better cooling system.

I would say more that it's utilizing the graphics card which is improperly cooled. No game should cause a graphics card (at factory settings) to overheat, they are built to run at 100%, if it is overheating then there is something going on. Try checking your fans, cleaning dust, etc.

I do rendering all the time , which means CPU and GPU load are both at 100% consistently , on my 3090ti Asus TUF . It was never at 90c , more like 70-75c . So unless that game can hack into ur bios I really doubt it is causing your GPU to go over the 100% limit .

Regardless of games pushing it to 100% or not , I would start monitoring the GPU temp consistently now .

Right. Your GPU is probably properly cooled, so is not reaching excessive temps. It's not the game burning up the card, it's the card burning up the card.

Out of interest what are the CPU temps like? It sounds like you've either got a duff fan or a case full of dust - time to get an air duster and go to town on it! And a visual check to make sure the fans are spinning, etc.

It's perfectly normal to get 100 degrees Celsius, if you are talking about cooking with a frying pan.

Internal case temperature for a pc, not so much.
steven777 13 ENE 2023 a las 8:00 p. m.
Your 2080 will thermal throttle itself at 83 degrees. If it gets 100 degrees it's your case or dust.

So I am a little confused because its only the temp I highlight in the picture that goes to 100, the others remain around 70-80. But other temp monitoring software I have only shows 1 temperature for my GPU

There's a defect in the vapor chamber of the new AMD Radion 7900X and 7900XTX
cards. it only affects cards that are installed horizontally. horizontal installs the most common install in a PC versus vertical install.

Anyways this is not third party built cards, only AMD reference designed 7900 series cards. what happens is the card goes above 100 C and it starts a thermal runaway situation.
so the card throttles down and and down so it doesn't burn up. but the problem is so severe it never recovers under load. I have to shut down the gamer app that's stressing it completely for it to cool down and get into normal operating and boosting states.

if you don't have an AMD 7900X .... ummm you could try re setting the cards cooler assembly with fresh thermal paste if you feel comfortable taking your card apart.

Good luck mate!
