Can we play offline ?

considering buying it, i've read few months ago that this game is constant online, is it still true ?

It has a shop for skins which sells the (purely cosmetic) skins you otherwise get by buying the legendary edition. That's as far as the ingame MTX goes - it's a singleplayer game with DLC which add characters and missions.

Downloading it again now to check where it's at but it used to be that the online connection was largely for the anti-piracy although I remember playing in Steam offline mode for periods when internet was down.

I played it for a bit when my internet connection was down, so you can play offline.

I have played it no issues offline on my Deck.

Can also confirm I was able to play when Internet was done, with no loss of DLC content or anything else in case that was also a question.

When I just started the game for the first time, it greeted me with an "agreement", as they seem to be common nowadays. I tried to read it for a change, but unfortunately it made no sense to me. Take Two was going on about a number of services they apparently provide, although I got no information, what that services might be. (Can't be me playing the game, I already paid for, right?) Also there was a lot of stuff about my duties and responsibilities towards them. Fun fact: The whole text could only be made go away with an "Agree"-Button, disagreeing was not an option.
So I (obviously) did the only thing possible and cut the internet connection. Game works anyway. That's how I will play it.

Denuvo will require you to be online intermittently at least.

They've discounted it extremely steeply without removing Denuvo so you should assume that's never going away.

It's also very possible that at some point they'll decide it's not worth paying for Denuvo any more and the game will become completely unplayable.

you need internet to start the game, but once in game you dont need in anymore. Its Dunuvo, so it will always require internet to start.

And again as said multiple time, this is NOT live service game and it doesnt run on servers. If for some release Denuvo go bye bye they will be forced to release patch to remove it.

So I doubt Denuvo will be removed, as development has been completely stopped.

Denuvo checks online (ir)regularly; not just when you install it. That's fundamental to how it works*. Once they take if off the Denuvo service it will stop working for everyone within some period of time.


I think there have been some games lost to Denuvo removal but I'm not certain and certainly can't name them (I don't buy anything with Denuvo).


* earlier versions of Denuvo were less aggressive
