the last X-COM style game I remember was Phoenix Point.
One could argue that Midnight Suns has more in common with XCOM : Chimera Squad (but we don't talk about that one). Gameplay wise as a whole? Completely unrelated games. In fact I could imagine picking some things out of this one and put it in whatever XCOM game might maybe be made some day, that could work. But all in all...no, this is a very different game.
