Exactly this. Better to have more options than fewer. Keep the option to keep cards for those who want it. Alternatively, they could have made it so you still start with the default deck so if you didn't want the other cards, you could salvage them.
At least the light/dark balance isn't carried over in case you wanted to go the other direction.
