Venom - Redemption makes no sense!
"Venom, the deadly amalgam of Eddie Brock and an alien symbiote, joins the Midnight Suns to right the wrongs he committed under Lilith's demonic influence. Turn your former Fallen adversary into a fearsome ally across new story missions as Venom fights alongside his best frenemy Spider-Man."

Uh... wait a minute... he has murdered tons of people before Lilith's influence right? I mean, its not like he was a good guy that was turned bad by Lilith. The trail of innocent dead people goes waaaaay back. Why not just bring in another Marvel hero, or anti-hero, like they are doing with Dead Pool. Trying to create a "redemption arc" just seems lazy to me. Like a lazy way of reusing already created graphic assets instead of something new.

It's comics fam

It's not a shady thing Midnight Suns is doing lmao it's comics, you can't think so realistically about this sort of thing and expect everything to make perfect sense

Comics universes like Marvel operate off rule-of-cool above all else, and having Venom join us is cool thus it's great he's playable

In general, the plot of this game proves to be far more mediocre than it should be. Hell, the twist reveal at the end and the reveal of Lilith's plan leaves more head-scratching and realizing how stupid these characters really are.

Thing to this game is it's in its own little universe so Venom's history is what Jake Solomon and the writers decided it is and the only clues we get to it are what is said in game. Eddie talks about his darkside but he seems more of an anti-hero with a grudge against Spiderman. If you've not seen the conversations, or don't even have the game, then it's something you'd not be aware of, of course.

Venom in the comics IS an antihero though, and has been for a long time. His days of hankering after Spidey's brainssss are long gone when he became the Lethal Protector and got his own comic.

I have some Venom comics from the 90s where although many see him as a bad guy (eating brains and whatnot) he's also kind of a champion for the homeless and poor, who feel the Avengers forget them. They view him as a hero and so does he, he only eats bad peoples brains after all.

In the recent Tom Hardy movies he's also an anti-hero and probably has slightly more hero qualities than Deadpool.

Actually...no, Venom doesn't kill innocent people. He hasn't pretty much since right after he was created.

Venom's been a good guy for decades. Hell, to take it further, Venom is more of a hero most of the time than Deadpool is...I don't think Venom's ever killed anyone for money.

I am not playing for the story, and Venom is a fun character to play with so it's all good.

Yes, and this is even an alternate Marvel universe so who knows how much more of a hero Venom is here. The symbiote probably hasn't had the Flash Thompson arc yet though.

You must not know a lot about venom/eddie...

Venom isn't technically a villain, he's just an adversary of Spider-Man. He's had a "protect innocents" mindset since the very beginning, and even his first solo series was called Lethal Protector.

I agree with the rest of the folks: he's more anti-hero than villain and the blood on his hands are not nearly as bad as, say, Sabertooths.

However, it does make me wonder why Lilith didn't trying enticing Carnage, who'd likely be far easier to entice. Or maybe Juggernaut and draw out Cyttorak's influence.

Venom does not kill innocents. They see themselves as a hero. They are only a villain in the sense they both hate Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Were it not for that fact, Venom would be more of a hero than Deadpool. They have no problem killing in order to protect, but the people they kill are not innocents. While Deadpool takes any job that pays, from any source that offers it. You may want to do a little research before posting topics.
