Captain Marvel Sucks Rant (extremely minor spoiler)

Dear Disney/Marvel: please stop with Captain Marvel. She is annoying, arrogant and not even well-liked by most people in her current persona. The fact that so many supernatural superheroes were put on the sidelines for Captain Freaking Marvel hurts my brain. The fact I'm forced to interact with her so many times in the first act of the game and she has more game-time than the majority of the Midnight Suns makes me feel like clawing my skin.

In the first gameplay hours of this game, all I hear is how good and awesome and great and powerful Captain Marvel is whenever her name comes up, even when she's talking about herself. Guess who Deadpool fanboys over in the first part of his DLC? That's right...Captain Marvel...after which she brags about herself to him...there's more in the base game story but I don't want to get into spoilers for people who just bought it. If you removed her from the game nothing would be lost. Everything she does could easily be replaced by Tony. We could have had Moon Knight, Werewolf-By-Night, or some other supernatural hero but...we get Captain Bragsalot.

Edit: I edited this last section because I can't delete this thread. I am tired of this thread and all the psychos that keep calling me sexist or a bigot just because I disliked a character that happened to be female.

In further news, I got used to her after a while, after the 3rd act she becomes a lot less insufferable, mostly because people aren't gushing over her every second and she has a chance to actually be a character and not a Mary Sue. But oh my gosh the first 2 acts. Anyways...if you're here to call me sexist for whatever reason your deluded mind tells you to, at least think logically about why someone would dislike this character OUTSIDE of just hating women...just really think about it, put yourself in the shoes of someone who dislikes a character, genuinely, and don't assume its because of any sort of bigotry...just try really hard...please...because these comments are tiring.

Also if you are going to complain about something I have said PLEASE look at the context of why I said it and WHO I was responding to and WHY the topic was brought up in the first place. Thank you.

I get the impression that a lot of folks don't like Carol because she's stronger than some boy superheroes and isn't especially humble about it. Humility would be out of character, though; she's a fighter jockey at heart, and we don't expect the Top Gun, Maverick, to go around talking about how he ISN'T the best.

.... Did you watch those movies? Maverick faced multiple crisis's that made him question himself and everything he stood for, to grow as a character. He was also constantly rebuked and knocked down a peg by the plot and characters around him. The movies make it a point that Maverick is not perfect and a highly flawed character, even Maverick himself admits to that. Its literally what makes character archs like Iron Man's and Mavrick's actually work. Marvel does not, and the plot goes along with this, making many in the audience feel like the character is a imposter compared to the rest of the caste, regardless of gender.
That isn't compelling writing, and your point is made even worse when Wanda exists. Witch is often considered the most powerful Avenger, and you're not seeing the kind of posts like this about her character.. Because she actually has flaws and feels like the rest of the characters.

Nor have you heard anyone make a fuss about Jean Grey or Storm being the most powerful mutants within the Xmen.
Lets talk about Hulk and Thor, two of the often claimed strongest Avengers. Hulk is quite often a unstoppable and uncontrollable killing machine that terrifies Bruce, in a Dr Jekyll/Hyde metaphor. Thor has caused numerous terrible things in happening by his own arrogance, rage, or the fact he just wasn't strong enough to stop it. Thor in the MCU, has just about failed saving everyone he has ever cared about, including his entire family.
Power has nothing to do with it, its why people suspect she was made powerful. The two most popular characters in Marvel for instance, are Spiderman and Wolverine. No where close to being the most powerful characters in any way shape or form, all too often they are underdog characters.
Just once I would like to see these type of conversations not break down to accusations and attacking of the character of posters.

Dear Disney/Marvel: stop trying to make her a thing, the majority of people consider her unlikable. There was a time when she was considered likeable. She no longer is. Stop it. There is even a whole superhero in the comics who's complete identity is "I love Captain Marvel whooo". Stop it. I 100% believe that she was shoved in this game by Disney and if not...wtf Firaxis? That is all.

I think he is talking from a lore/story perspective not a actual gameplay perspective.. Gameplay wise, I do like running her, but from what I heard she falls hard late gate game like all the tanks. It would be interesting if we see some balancing changes, in altering point values.

You have no idea what you are a talking about, your ignorance of this game and it's gameplay is showing.
Captain Marvel is one of the worst characters For U3 when compared to most other optimized decks.
Iron Man for instance is capable winning in 1-2 turns on U3....
Ghost rider might be the single strongest damage dealer for U3.

No way in hell captain marvel can win a round by herself in 1-2 turns in U3.
She is easily outdamaged by MOST of the cast in this game.
And Captain America does blocking/tanking better than she could ever dream of.

No, RIGHT NOW is the WORST era of comics, and it is way beyond a punchline.

90s sales wiped the floor with basically any American comic book produced today to an unbelievable degree. Even the sales of an average book in the 90s would be the Best Seller today, easily.

The current incarnation of both Marvel and DC are trash fires. They are publishing books noone wants or reads, the majority of runs get cancelled early, books have 20 variant covers just to try to make some money, and they have to have multiple "event books" a year just to try to get anyone interested (and they are still not interested).

On top of that, both Big 2 companies are struggling to recapture nostalgia for the 90s by making sequels to popular 90s runs and events. Companies are closing and declaring bankruptcy, while failing to pay their talent for months (or ever).

Shops are closing a lot faster than they are opening, the largest digital platform for American comic sales is closing down, and we have some of the most untalented hack writers in the history of comics running rampant in the industry.

Yep, this forum is not moderated. The only way anything will be locked or anyone banned is if enough people report something to get the attention of Valve's mods.
