Moving legacy files delete saves?
Hi,
So installed the latest patch, booted up the game, and the first thing it asked me was do I want to move legacy save files, delete them, or skip. Not knowing what the hell that was, I clicked skip and booted up the game. But the first battle I loaded into, the frame rates were all over the place, so I exited the game, reloaded it, and this time clicked 'move' for the legacy files, thinking this was some simple process of moving save files from one folder to the other (why I was being asked I don't know).

Anyway, cue one immediate crash of the game later, and when I boot it back up, it asks me the exact same question again - but surprise surprise, all my save files are gone! My only option now it appears is starting a new game.

So first thing I want to say is: ♥♥♥♥ this game and all the stupid ♥♥♥♥ I've had to do to be able to get it running on good hardware. This is only one in a long list of issues I've had.

Secondly; does anyone know firstly how to reverse this, or whether it's possible to re-instate those save files if they've been deleted? I'll be losing 60 hours of progress, sadly.

Lost my act 3 save doing the same thing. Gave me the save I started on my steam deck when I realized the cloud saves were borked.

I did the move option and it deletes the original. I found the original file under Documents\My Games\Marvel's Midnight Suns\Saved_Steam_<number>\SaveGames\Backup. Copy your auto and/or manual saves back to the savegames folder and you're back in business.

So what the hell even was it? Why ask the user to do something, then break half way through doing it, and wipe all files?
I take it it's final then? No way to recover the files within my harddrives?
Like, what in god's name would the game do that for? It asks me to do something, I allow it, then it wipes everything. Now when I boot it up, it isn't even asking about legacy files anymore, it's just acting as if I've never played it. What kind of development team allows that kind of bug to sit on a log-in screen?
I suppose its one good way to lose a player. No way I'm restarting from scratch now.

I think they fixed the cloud saves, so now I can play on deck, they just worded the error message very crappies. Luckily I found out the saves were backed up. Someone on another thread figured it out. https://steamcommunity.com/app/368260/discussions/0/3768984714326824818/

Dude! that worked perfectly: thank you so much. I can go back to quietly resenting the game while compulsively playing it at the same time now!

so... if you don't have the backup folder you are hosed? I did same as OP but I cannot locate my dozens of saves anywhere on disk on my PC. Awesome that I have to go to reddit or steam to get help for a Firaxis eff up. (did find my photos, small consolation.. there IS a savedgames diretory but it does'nt have a backup folder, and even if I copy the files from that folder over to Saved folder it does nothing.

Sorry I just saw your last post @desrosiers11 - but probably so. I believe the folder would only be created if you selected the "move" option vs the "overwrite" one.
