The Forge Challenges
This is the worst part of the game. I'd rather grind to get stuff than have to figure out some ridiculous puzzle.

Uh, yeah. Those are Forge Challenges.

you do know that tactical games at their core are just puzzle games right?

Sure, but these particular puzzles I'm referring to don't really add anything to the game that I see. They seem out of place. It's like Tetris: put these piece here, move this piece here, etc.

I think both of these points are less absolutes and up to personal definitions. And that's fine.

That's a given, from my perspective. It's all about what each person likes or doesn't like. I just don't happen to like this kind of activity in a game.

Agreed
puzzles like this should not be around at all cause you would need a guide and there is for the first challenge in the forge. Solution is weird and so is the challenge is all. I agree with the OP here. :SILENTMIMIC:

Other than the Hunter's, are they really so difficult to figure out that you feel they shouldn't be in there at all?

They are pretty simple. Most are gettable first time, or second at worst. Definitely not something to consult a guide over. Arguably too simple, but I like the idea and they are pretty bite sized, which does break up gameplay a bit, so i can forgive that.

There are a couple of exceptions, which are the ones that have random information that is fixed by a seed and hidden from the player. I think there's two challenges like this, where you have to draw or redraw cards from the deck and the optimal solution relies on knowing what these cards are, which is only possible via save scumming. That's poor design.

Agreed, they were annoying. Nothing against those who thought they were fun, but I found them frustrating and tedious, and after muddling through the first few I just got the answers online if I didn't get them after a couple tries.

On the flip side I thought the threat room challenges (or whatever its called) were a lot of fun.

I agree with all you said. I enjoy the T.H.R.E.A.T. room as a way of easily leveling up characters, but I just simply don't like the puzzles, even if they are simple. For me, it just takes me out of the flow of the game. There are other games out there that are all about puzzle-solving, and I don't play those because I don't like puzzles. I barely tolerate them in RPGs. They often just seem gratuitous.

I think they are there to help teach you the characters strengths and give a better understanding of their playstyle but i agree didnt want to waste time on them i just looked up guides for them so i could get back to the game.

I didn't like them.
The rewards are nice, so I did them anyway, but I'd rather get back to the missions.
