Game is laggy and clunky as hell

So I just bought this game, and I cannot play it. I've never seen such a poorly optimized game in my life. The mouse is dreadful in the starting screen. The entry video lags. Ive looked and my PC is more than capable of running this game. I've even watched YouTube videos trying to fix this problem cause it seems to be an ongoing issue for many? Why the ♥♥♥♥ would they release a game so poorly optimized and untested?

Yea it is a bit buggy, just lower settings until they fix it for now

The current procedure is to turn off ray tracing and disable the 2k launcher. Most people notice a strong improvement in performance afterward.

meh, just requested a refund. If they get their ♥♥♥♥ together, I may re-buy it. I'll have to browse the forums every once in a while to see if they fix their ♥♥♥♥. It's unplayable for me as is.

Runs great for me. One crash in 111.7 hours of game play. I did have lag, however, and followed the suggestions online - disable ray tracking, disable cloud save, adjusting the video driver settings - and then it ran great. Had very few issues.

Just a you problem, buddy. Finished the entire game on max graphics with a five year old PC, no lag whatsoever. You having an issue doesn't make the game unoptimized; learn how your buzzwords work.

It runs great here with everything on Epic and 2K Launcher disabled, but if I turn ray tracing on it turns into a stutter fest. Try disabling RT, 2K Launcher. You can also try to run on DX11 instead of DX12, if it doesn't fix try to verify the files.

RT will definitely cause some lag on initially loading in which 2k and Firaxis are aware of. Should resolve pretty quickly though, unlike at launch where it was persistent. (3080ti, 5600x, 980 pro, @1440p)

I had the same problem. Just disable the 2k Launcher with a Steam Command.
After i did this it runs smooth without any lags or stuttering.

Change it to your file path.

There was a thread for optimizing stuff, removing the launcher as the person above mentioned. Futzing with the frame limiter (I had to put mine to Unlimited) fixed my other issues. Hopefully these two things combined help.
