Reinstalled and 80 Hours ... Gone

So a few people had said reinstalling on Steam Deck solved their crashing problems

Turns out your save file gets deleted if you uninstall the game.
I wrongly assumed that saves would be excluded from that process but nope. I guess that's part of the whole cloud save fail we currently have.

Fair warning to anyone else thinking of reinstalling

Are you absolutely sure? Because from what I've heard the game can create a new save folder, but it doesn't remove the old one.

There is some kind of weird thing happening with the saves and Cloud saves aren't working as intended.... I left the game yesterday at 21:00 on day 5, manually saved and all, although the game supposedly saves after each fight. I even have the achievement and the cover for the two fights I did on that time uploaded to steam.

Now I opened the game and my last save was 4 hours prior. I only play on my pc and no steamdeck or stream to tv or anything like that. And yeah, I looked on the save folder, I only have the save(steamID) folder and there's no save after that

Sadly cloud save is borked on Steam Deck. It is enabled but won't upload, and it sounds like this is their smallest percent of players, so not a priority

Thanks a ton for that video, followed it and got it all set up so fingers crossed going forward.

I dug around all the folders and the only files I can find are timestamped as of the reinstall so I am pooched.

Good thing I'm a chronic altoholic anyway. Maybe I'll go dark hunter on my new playthrough. Seems appropriate shrug emoji
