It's really as long or as short as you want to make it. Lot of people get caught frontloading a lot of content very early on rather than moving the story on because the game doesn't force you to move it forward. It's a big game with infinite combat if you want it and a huge social side if it interests you.
unlikely to happen soon, if ever. xcom 2 has a lot of mods thanks to the workshop compatibility. afaik, devs dont like the idea of people making mods for this one, so i dont think this game will have the mods to reduce event animations, or options to control the camera, etc.
All heroes maxed out in friendship, All skills upgraded and lots re-rolled, crafted many combat items, petted my dog every day, did hangouts every time i could, did all the club meetings (that was there at least, it bugged out for me at some point), Did many side missions, activated every speech bubble i could find and listened to what the heroes had to say, and i had maximum light balance.
And now I'm on new game+ and just chilling with some different missions until new heroes release.
Now i'm 20 hours into my 2nd playthrough on dark save. just entered 2nd chapter. got everything around the abbey done, got most steps of the emo-kids and chop shop done. this time i'm skipping cutscenes and dialogues. running straight to everything efficiently on the map around the abbey. and it still takes quite some time. still 20 hours to reach lvl 17-18 isn't too bad...it sure beats the 45-50 hours it took me the first time around.
135+ hours in right now and i don't feel satiated in regards to deck compositions and combat. i did lose interest in the excessive dialogues/friendship system early on though.
