Midnight Sun challenge?

How long does it take to unlock Iron Man's midnight sun outfit? It says I need to complete his "midnight sun challenge at the armory" but I don't know what that's about. I just got his friendship level past level 1. I'm only a few hours in but I want to get him out of his ♥♥♥♥♥♥ default armor fast.

You need to get his friendship to level 5 to unlock the challenge. The Armory itself requires a research project that is unlocked by using Ghost Rider in 4 different missions.

Oh jeez. And friendship level 5 takes a while, right? Since I only have him a little over level 1 and it's been about 6 hours of gameplay. I already took him to a haven, complimented him, hung out with him, etc. Does the friending process speed up at some point?...

It gets faster when you unlock the gift shop, which requires Team Friendship Level 3 (if I recall correctly), this increases by increasing everyone's friendship levels. Taking him on missions with the hunter whenever possible (+2 friendship each missions) and sparring with him every 4 days (+3 friendship per session) also helps. Earliest I could unlock a level 5 friendship was just before finishing Act 1, but I did spam quite a lot of general missions between story missions.

Gotcha, thank you. I got lucky and found the code that grants Iron Man the bleeding edge armor for free before Dec 23rd, but this will help me get that neat Midnight Sun armor faster (I unlocked the gift shop but have yet to have an opportunity to give him said gift).
