CPU overheating
I have a Corei9850k with 32 gigs of ram. The CPU is water cooled. It usually sits at 40-50 degrees when used for work.
Playing Midnight Suns tonight over Steam link. The game crashed and I could hear the case fans screaming. I went up to check and temp was at 120 degrees.
I am playing at 1440p on high, without ray tracing, using a 3080ti. I am now worried that this game will fry my CPU.
Anyone else had similar issues.
The crash happened in the home base. I was using the Anvil.

The game isn't CPU heavy, so that's weird. Have you run a stress test on your CPU recently?

Not specifically. I have run Soulstone Survivors on infinite to level 4. That runs fine. Also play many games on ultra 4k like New World. Again no real issues.

I'd suggest running a stress test for a CPU specifically. Soulstone survivors is more GPU intensive than it is CPU. And new world, I don't think is intensive for either.

Now that's interesting as I've experienced heat increase with Xcom2 too. Was thinking of buying but not sure now.

I've seen close to 70c degrees in my CPU at the highest with this game, I've got an air cooled case. I play at native 3200x1800 with everything set to epic and without ray tracing.

10900k at 140 fps runs with 60 degres. Its not that CPU heavy, but it bottlenegs at 140

After checking BIOS, NZXT and GPUZ, they all read about 40 Celsius. Turns out the steel series app which displays on my keyboard has decided to report CPU in F instead of C. The app still says C, but app Dev has responded saying it's an update that has gone a bit tits up.
Still a bit confused as to why all my case fans went full blast when game crashed. But at least now I can relax a little.
Thanks all for your responses.

Not sure if you found out anything im running mine as well Make me peak at a 92c when im always at 80c absolute my highest. Ryzen 7840 HS , 32GB ram, 4060ti. it only gets like 20 percent used but makes my temp go crazy. Diablo was doing this too and i had to turn something out .
