most useless: Ghosty but im sure i can make him strong too ♥
Least useful is probably Ghost rider and Magik for me at the moment
least useful is IronMan for me, but I think that's just cause I've used him the least and acquired the fewest cards for him, I'm positive that will change as I get more cards for him
overall they've done an excellent job at making every toon powerful in their own way
My Iron Man is my highest level, because he hogs all the kills and XP. But then high damage chain 5 into chain 4 tends to do that. Have cleared a mission in barely two turns thanks to that.
Most useful: Cap Best defence + dig in/mass taunts and super card draw quick minion removal+card draw,
Ghostrider: highest damager I have with his pennance stare, straight to hell shenanigans is fun. Good omni directional knockback and judgement and hells fury if you hold hell's fury it's a nuke.
Magik: LIMBO'S GRASP! xD kinda hard to use but amazing when you can. Find her gather and stuff to be overrated outside of specific strats but that limbo's grasp is amazing. Once you realise the once a turn "shove" ability triggers her portals. you ALWAYS have a 88+ damage and highly controlled knockback every turn you have a portal regardless of card draws.
Spodermans: when you get good at using environmentals, opportunist is ridiculous. boost the damages on his chain attack and watch him nuke weenies in style. Free strenghened with webslinger. His heroics are kinda meh, with up here! being good but other cards do it better. Web throw is overpriced but I may just not have clicked with him. He's just amazing at environmentals and stacking resist.
Dr strange: He's almost purely support tbh, but incredible at it. Not a fan of his other cards and find him always being just pure support. But again, AMAZING at it. Combat items abuse is real.
not as useful but still powerful or well balanced/close to being well balanced:
Wolvie: Love his gimmicks and card pool, plus it's friggin wolvie. But he's constantly injured cos of his design. Wolvie is good in the fact he literally can't stay down if you have heroism, probably better on higher diffs where there's greater limits on revives xD Still, stink of fear man just that card. Great chain attacks and a mix between tank and controlled damage output, like blade he excels when paired with guys that chain on ko like spodermans and cards that have the "gain X on ko" modifier stacking. Works incredible with iron man's heads up cards.
Carol danvers: Unlike carl manvers she's actually chill in this game, I normally love characters that taunt and counter. But I often find without support and cures ♥♥♥♥ like bleed and corruption eats her up if you're not careful. Powerful early game, falls off late hard.
Iron man: Great support but I find his redraw gimmick to be annoying sometimes. Amazingly middle of the road with some nice nukes if you can build heroism right and set him up.
Blade: Great for slowly softening up elites, but due to the timing on bleed procs he misses the timing on many bonuses and as a result is diminished. still great damage potential. Best as your non quick user. IMHO, I need to use him more to get a better feel. He's solid though
Honorable mention:
Scarlet witch: I just got her and I'm still testing her out. Good potential though
Character I never use: Nico. Lolrandom effects can get effed. Roulette is a terrible idea.that is NOT to say she's underpowered. Just not my cup of tea.
i feel like a lot of heroes power depends highly if you get proper cards
Dr Strange would have the Best overall usefulness. with 2 of : Agamotto/vishanti/Axe/wind he basically carry the whole team just because you get to play 4 cards instead of 3, get your attacks back and generate tons of heroism with his skills and passive perks (50% to get 3 heroism maxed... but basically it's 50% to get 1-2-3 with upgrading friendship) ... so you ALWAYS have tons of heroism. which can be used for his own axe which with 10 hero will basically one shot even boss or close enough, let you use all environmental items all around the map or let other heroes use their hero skill.
Main Hero ... later in the game can also carry pretty hard, you have several very damaging AOE (be it light, dark or neutral), if you get some more AoE as passive perks ... you can clear insane amount.
Magick ... IF you get her Limbo power that let's her get +xx damage every time you use her limbo portals, and once upgraded also let you create a portal, that with one extra portal skill, and everthing else as quick knockback/knockback skill... you can end up one shotting anything as well, or you can use her skills to group/pack monsters around explosives and just use that to kill everything at once. however she is kind of useless on some missions that dont involve movable units (like stuff with protection/nest mother)
all of Blade/Spider-Man/Ghost Rider/ wolverine /Iron man who are or can be all "chain or AoE" skill based hero are absolutely killing machines with Strange in the group... without they are all average or situational heroes, none of them on their own does much. amongst those, i would place Blade and Ghost at the top, blade because of bleed/chains/self heal power, and ghost if you play him with strange since you can just spam his "eat souls" skill and get ungodly amount of chains/damage/heal out of it. but you need several turns to get going.
Nico would be rated under all of those, problem is her roulette mechanics ... she is decent but too RNG, her passive is cool tho, free cards when she plays her card... can help a lot to snowball if you can get "quick cards" or "marked" rolling to get card use back.
Captain Marvel is even (imo) behind blade/spider/ wolverine . she doesn't scale super hard her damage, unless in binary which requires 3 marvel card use, she is a brawler that is supposed to be relatively tanky and can dish some damage (in the game), but considering how missions are setup you need to clear fast, so basically being able to reroll/recall, and refresh card use while one shotting left and right is the only efficient way to play the game.
Cap Murica would be my F tier hero, he is utterly useless ... again... see above mechanics, there is no missions where he is useful as he has even less damage than marvel. he has one saving grace that would be his aoe shield throw if you use Strange to boost his damage, which would make a good clear, but all other heroes do the same or better.
Don't Have the hulk yet so i can't comment on him
Most: Blade/Spidey/Nico/Captain America.
Blade's shield damage bonus is nuts and he has some of the best zero-setup damage skills.
Spidey is basically busted in a very fun way.
All of Nico's later support abilities are insane. Keep one of her nukes in the deck as a bonus and you can do crazy turns. I feel because her early abilities are a bit too random (curse is particularly crap) people don't use her enough to get her more powerful cards.
Captain america is also busted, in that he is immortal and gets to take one hit at every single enemy on the field once you unlock a modded Dig In+.
Least: Captain Marvel. I just find her playstyle to be a too straight forward (hit things with captain marvel until you can hit more things with captain marvel), so I haven't played as her enough to unlock cards. Maybe she gets more options later.
Honestly though everyone is very strong to use for in their own unique way. I think some heroes, like Magik, are harder to use and their cards have less of a 'wow' factor, but once you get the hang of them can be very strong
My personal favorite has to be NIco though. Witchstorm combined with Magik's Gather or a WItchfire setup means total destruction.
My most used probably Magik, her displacement skills are just so valuable. I didn't know Nico as a character and thought she looked tra... not to my liking, but after playing her I can say she has really strong damage and support and I like her too. Ironman seems a great character as well. Basically I value the versatile characters more.
I haven't found anyone who sucks yet... but I'm not the biggest fan of Dr Strange as a character so his level is lagging behind a bit and I did not spend a lot of time on his deck.
He has a card that turns him into a drop and the upgraded version also heals him. This makes it so the waves can't kill you anymore and then you just aoe them - but don't bring the hellride for it discards the hand.
Most Used: Light-Side Hunter - All the cards are good, it's shocking there's damage included on some of these cards. Full Heal + Draw 2, Support Cards so you can keep spamming the same card. You're incentivized to always take hunter anyway for friendship points but yea Hunter is disgusting.
Iron Man - Surgical Strike (this card nukes, with setup from hunter you can use it multiple times for 400 damage turns and its very versatile since you can spread the damage). I have never been disappointed when I bring out Iron Man, I find that your redraws can fall to the wayside even with other chars so this gets you some guaranteed usage.
Dr. Strange - Eye of Agamotto (The 4-card turns are disgusting, this might be the best support card in the game that I've seen, and the later support cards are pretty good too)
Captain America - Dig In (Need the + version but this is really good, basically invincible). I just got Cap but I find that he's pretty good, good aoe attacks, some of his starter cards are kinda garbage though.
Captain Marvel - Photon Blast (Beam attack across the field provides a lot of value typically). I think a lot of ppl are sleeping on Binary Mode in here but whenever she goes Binary I have found that the win is basically guaranteed from there.
Least Used: Nico - Everytime I bring Nico I'm a little disappointed, my best card on her right now is Witchfire+ but it's pretty inconsistent, doesn't outdamage a knockback typically. The roulette mechanic is also questionable imo, I feel like your high-roll isn't even that good which is pretty bad for a character like this. If the debuffs were less single-target I may be more inclined to bring her along.
Magik - I find that you usually don't need her portals and you can set up the knockbacks yourself but maybe I just don't have the good cards yet.
Ghost Rider - I can tell the later cards are probably really good but with what I have right now he just gets himself killed on Heroic II and can't finish off the job.
Spider-Man - He's just kinda fallen off to the wayside for me unfortunately. Need to grind him up to get some cards.
But with buffs/debuffs and the right amount od cc (which means very specific match up roster) to keep mobs of her... Devastating on her own.. But CA? Captain Marvel can do everything he can and much better, at that.
Favorite? Hard choice, between blade/hunter/wolverine/Spiderman.
Magick is pretty awesome too. Dr Strange and Iroman, so-so (pretty boring at the beginning, later on they get much better gameplay wise but all together they are well rounded)
Ghost Rider is for me hit and miss like Nico, it just requires specific group up otherwise it's less than optimal.
I guess the only real problem and misfit for me is CA and quite frankly.
If you go for a hunter than can heal ghost rider is top tier. I find strange, Magick and wolverine being up there too.
Mid tier: Nico, blade, Ironman and Captain Marvel
Bottom: Spiderman, captain america, if you hunter is dps/tank, ghostrider would be here.
That's my ranking. Those i use the mosts are hunter, magick and strange/ironman
Least used : Ghost Rider, IM, Niko
Just started the game doing side and exploring so is gonna take a bit till I get to later heroes.
Least: Dr Strange (by ALOT), Ghost Rider.
