Crash to desktop, can't play. Anyone else?
I am having a bastard of a time finding any info on this and can't play this dumb game. First off :

i7-9700k
RTX 3080
32GB RAM
Windows 11

I've bypassed the launcher by adding the launch command to my game. I've verified files. I've uninstalled it from my M2 drive and installed it in a standard SSD. NOTHING WORKS.

The game starts and runs fine. During the tutorial, the first time my character takes damage (Dr. Strange after getting a shield from Iron Man) the game freezes for a second and crashes to desktop. No matter what graphics or display settings I enable, it always crashes there.

I decided to try my steam-deck and it runs great there. I was able to play past the tutorial and then experienced another crash during a cut scene. I don't fault the dev team here - they have explicitly said it isn't optimized for Deck but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I want to play this stupid game and I can't.

Exact same issue here, except works perfectly on my Steamdeck. I hoping it's a strange bug related to the other issues people are experiencing so it gets fixed on the first patch, but I doubt it.

Had the same thing happen in the turorial 5 times on a GTX 3060.
My resolution at that time which I'm not happy with already was to skip the tutorial.
So I was able to play for 20 minutes until it crashed again during portal into first mission.
I am now sitting at 23 minutes of play time and 85 minutes overall.
Really do not want to refund because of what the game promises and has, but if nothing is fixed i will have to do so.

I just had the same thing happen. Somehow, the cloud save from my deck uploaded so I was able to skip the tutorial on my desktop. After picking the first mission and talking to Strange, though, same thing. Crash to desktop, no error. I love XCOM and love Firaxis so this is extremely disappointing.

Bummer dude. No luck on my end either. Only hope now is a patch that mentions "fixed a crashing bug" in the patch notes.

Try running the DX11 renderer instead of DX12 and see if that makes a difference. Also turn off ray-tracing if you have it turned on. You might also try locking the frame rate at 60fps -- that's plenty for a game like this.

What finally seems to be working (I still get occasional CTDs, but they are less frequent), is Run in Compatibility Mode for Win 8, and Updating both DirectX and Visual C++, at least that was what I tried the last time I messed with it. I dont know which worked, but it was one of those three.

Prior to this I removed 2k Launcher, am Running in Admin with the shipping.exe, and disabled full screen optimizations, and made sure I have Ray tracing off. I updated my NVidia drivers as well.

This is my exact issue. During the tutorial it crashes after ironman uses his ability. I skip tutorial and it crashes a little after the first portal that Magick creates.

Same issue here. I'm running a 2080. :steamsad:
Tried everything I could find to fix it. I did log a ticket with 2K support as well.

It's probably not that, as I had zero actual crashes on a 2080 Super.

I would suggest doing the standard procedures, verify the integrity of the game, Run DDU and reinstall GPU drivers, and turn down a few of the settings to see if you can get some stability.

It's not just NVIDIA. I have an Ryzen 7 3700, with an AMD 5700 XT, and I can't even load my last two save games at this point. Just crashes to desktop.

Interesting, I was wondering if anyone on AMD was having problems. So there are quite a few of us but not enough for 2K to rush to investigate. :\

Question to those of you who have this problem: do you have the game installed to your main C Drive or are you installed to a different storage drive?
