My resolution at that time which I'm not happy with already was to skip the tutorial.
So I was able to play for 20 minutes until it crashed again during portal into first mission.
I am now sitting at 23 minutes of play time and 85 minutes overall.
Really do not want to refund because of what the game promises and has, but if nothing is fixed i will have to do so.
I just had the same thing happen. Somehow, the cloud save from my deck uploaded so I was able to skip the tutorial on my desktop. After picking the first mission and talking to Strange, though, same thing. Crash to desktop, no error. I love XCOM and love Firaxis so this is extremely disappointing.

Bummer dude. No luck on my end either. Only hope now is a patch that mentions "fixed a crashing bug" in the patch notes.
Prior to this I removed 2k Launcher, am Running in Admin with the shipping.exe, and disabled full screen optimizations, and made sure I have Ray tracing off. I updated my NVidia drivers as well.
This is my exact issue. During the tutorial it crashes after ironman uses his ability. I skip tutorial and it crashes a little after the first portal that Magick creates.
Tried everything I could find to fix it. I did log a ticket with 2K support as well.
I would suggest doing the standard procedures, verify the integrity of the game, Run DDU and reinstall GPU drivers, and turn down a few of the settings to see if you can get some stability.
Interesting, I was wondering if anyone on AMD was having problems. So there are quite a few of us but not enough for 2K to rush to investigate. :\
