It is not based on the MCU at all, but on the comic books.
"Get out of jail free again? Who designed this game, Wilson Fisk?"
"Impossible. No one from New York could conceive of free parking."
I presume it is the original timeline, before the 96 reboot, Wolverine fit perfect.
That's actually really wonderful to hear. X-Men comics have reflected the ongoing demoralization of the youth for a long time now and characters like the Beast have suffered the most from it, somehow becoming amoral and sociopathic despite starting out as a founding X-Man and a long time Avenger. It just feels wrong.
It's not the original 616 timeline, though a lot of the things which happened there have happened in the game universe as well. It takes place in the modern world long past '96, and includes events from more recent comics too but not all of them.
Also when it comes to Ghost Riders, Marvel has a lot of these and Robbie Reyes is just one among them. There were at least three Ghost Riders before Robbie, because Mephisto makes multiple deals and the spirit of vengeance can possess multiple people. Not that there would be anything wrong with having a favorite Ghost Rider, of course.
Yeah, the first one from the comic books might have happened in the game universe, but the second one hasn't happened at all.
