Have the exact same problem! Grey load game button :(

....this is the worst kind of bug...man, I super hope this doesn't happen to me. I've been anal about spamming the save EVERY day due to other save game issues (Game crashes when you attempt to manually save over an Autosave slot)

Is there anything left in your Documents folder as to the Midnight Suns save data?

This happened to me after disabling the launcher. It started a new folder with new saves for me. But I could copy the saves from the old folder to the new one and they loaded fine.

That did it! Thanks Kdmiller :) i didnt disable launcher but had two save directories, copied my last save and three info files in the empty save folder and now i could load that save! :) have disabled launcher now though.

Thanks again!!!! have a nice weekend

Great work kdmiller!
I'm thinking the devs tied the save folder to the launcher for bug/crash reporting issues. It might have saved like 2 secs for them by bundling everything together for feedback. Whatever the case, glad you figured it out.

I only have a single save folder and a folder for photos and both folders last modified date is the time of the install- so no autosaves have been happening for me and whenever I try to manually save the game freezes up. This is unplayable if you can't save any progress.

So, I've seen that there are TWO folders for saves: One in your Steam directory and one in the Game directory. I JUST saw a post about it and will reply with that information for you

From the other thread:

go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Marvel's Midnight Suns\
There is two directories.
Go to the steam one and copy the savegame directory to the other one.
Check the content of the directory before, must have one file per save.

Worked for me to recover the save

I checked and there are two Save folders there. One is listed Steam, the other is the plain "Saved" folder. So hopefully you should find them both??
Man, I feel for ya. This happened to me with Elden Ring after like 14hrs and I haven't been able to bring myself to play that thing again lol

I resolved the issue by going to virus and ransomware protection and allowing the steamapps/common/Marvel's Midnight Suns/Midnight Suns/binaries/Win64/MidnightSuns-Win64-Shipping.exe application through controlled folder access. I had previously allowed the application in Steamapps\common\Marvel's Midnight Suns\MidnightSuns.exe access, but that wasn't the correct executable. I also bypassed the 2k launcher, which may have been confusing the ransomware protection. Now I see a save file folder inside the Saved_Steam_[UserID] folder.
