It's worth noting that this is a turn based tactical game using a card based mechanic instead of skills like XCOM, but plays out well. Whereas Gotham knights is an action brawler with coop.
I wouldn't go back to Gotham Knights even if i was being threatened to die. That game was and is horrible.
If money isn't the problem. Go look for something that got released last year as a GOTY edition and play that instead.
They are very different games though. Superhero theme is the only similarity.
Gotham Knights is an action RPG while Midnight Suns is turn based. They're completely different. Personally I loved Gotham Knights and I would recommend. Especially if you can find it on sale.
I have no opinion on Midnight Suns because I haven't played it. I would've preferred Xcom 3 tbh.
Well, X-COM 3 is still coming, so that's okay.
I'm finding phoenix point a more than adequate alternative; it is very strong, but not liking the DLC for it much. (The DLC actually detract from the game IMO, fortunately you can disable it). The story and factions are good, the soldier modifications downright great. The gameplay is good, but can get frustrating if you let it. Less flashy than X-COM and combat feels more 'real'; cool that it's a lovecraftian horror game masquerading as an X-COM title. It's not a triple-A title though, unlike Firaxis' outings.
Gotham Knights kinda feels like you're slapping a wet salami against cardboard when you hit enemies.
In this game you can wipe out people and feel powerful as heck. But they are totally different games, it's up to you.
I'm definitely leaning towards midnight suns, but I may do what I usually do when in doubt and get both. ;)
PS: I didn't include guardians as one of the options for a reason; it wasn't an oversight.
