So is the female Hunter the Canon gender?

I think they did a very good job of not calling attention to the main character's gender in the dialogue.

eh not really, the "they" feels really odd in the dialogue, wish they just sticked with "hunter" or "the hunter"

Well lore-wise Lilith only has daughters, so probably.

That's not true. Her most notable offspring, Pilgrim, is a male.

There is no canon hunter, its just some game thing to give us a player character, in the comics it would not sell well. At least this version we get in game..

I have to say one thing this game has done is increase my awareness about the whole magic/mystical side of Marvel ... outside of Dr Strange I wasn't really aware of it. I'm much more familiar with the DC magic stuff. It's been entertaining to find out about it.

Marvel has seemed to back off on the whole magic side of marvel.. I'm not sure why.

I remember in one of Wandas notes on the book in the libary she writes about the hunter as "he looks so peaceful" and I got the female version in my game. So this might be a hint towards the canon gender, or just an assumption of Wanda, or a developer oversight,

I dunno if anyone noticed but the first trip through Magiks portal the Hunter see's another version of themselves as a different gender with red God of War style Tattoos.. I am playing a male so mine saw a female..

Interesting. I don't remember this. Typical issue with me and game starts.

It seems to me that the writers assumed that the PC was female, and the costume designers assumed that the PC would be male. Story is full of tragic female relationships, and mother daughter angst. PC's closet is full of very baggy pants, very high collared shirts and lots of clothes that look like she borrowed them from her boyfriend.

Well if the hair options are anything to go by its definitely the Female, because there are some terrible male hair options..

Blasphemy. :) Matt Mercer is one of the all time greats.

Matt Mercer is lovely and I enjoy critical role, but he does two voices in his professional voice acting: cowboy man and aloof stranger.

In this he's tried to mix the two and wound up sounding like a cowboy man on tranquillisers.

yeah that did it for me. made a fem hunter after that first dialogue as a male character, thinking the devs might have prioritized the female animations and stuff.

no regrets. the VA for the fem hunter is fantastic. her stoic, fish-out-of-water delivery is amazing
