So is the female Hunter the Canon gender?

In the prequel shorts the Hunter is female. Just wondering.

It's the one the Devs have picked for advertising the game, but just like Mass Effect had a Male Shepard for 1 and 2 advertising and then a Female Shepard for 3, there's no "right" choice, it's just about which they personally think will be cooler to see in the marketing and then which us as players personally think will be cooler to play as.

Yeah, unless they do some external thing (like having an actual comic with the character in it) there really will not be a canon version. It is just an arbitrary choice they used for marketing.

The Hunter is not officially either gender. It's very intentionally something we customize.

Pretty sure they said on stream that female hunter was how they saw the hunter, so for the dev team its cannon, but its down to what you think overall for your character

Man I can't wait until AI manages to convincingly emulate human voices in 15 years so we can have him and Troy Baker voice every character in every videogame forever. yeah but still the female V/A just seems to fit the role better, there's a slight accent that sounds stronger for the female role which feels correct for someone 300+ years old

Ok that does it, I'm going to restart with a female hunter. I've been wondering about this. I love the voice actor, he's like an Elder Scrolls Online mainstay btw, but it just feels a little bland in this game.

I think the whole point of the Hunter is that we get to decide what is Canon :).

I think they did a very good job of not calling attention to the main character's gender in the dialogue.
