Morninglight weapon upgrading, did I miss something?

I got to the town with the blacksmith and he offered to upgrade my weapon if i bring him the ingredients. I got past all the town quests there and the next couple places and he's still giving me the Need Parts to Upgrade talk. My main char's morningstar sucks, and he's doing 30ish dmg vs. the rest of the party that does 70-130 dmg per hit with their weapons.
I rescued and partied with a guard that was thrown in jail. The jailed guard is 4 levels lower than my main char, and does more dmg, esp with his recently stolen new weaps. And the ex-prison guard does low dmg too, but more than my "chosen one" hero.

What am I missing, or is our hero *supposed* to be a low dmg type guy who shields the front while the back of the party does the dmg?

You've definitely missed a few runes. In my playthrough Agro was consistently on par or better with the rest of the party. Try looking back over all the places you've been.

Also trying to find these - heading to the bone aerie now and haven't found a single one so far. We spent so much time running around in each location that redoing all of the cities and dungeons previously visited is a pain, plus the ifrit fortress and the judges' prison can't be accessed anymore so I hope there weren't any in there. Is there a walkthrough somewhere that says where they are or could someone who has found them all make a spoiler section and list their locations? Thanks

Well, there is an official strategy guide for sale through Steam. I don't own a copy, but I would assume it covers the locations of the runes. If you don't want to fork over the cash for it, hopefully someone who has it will offer up the locations. I don't know of any free walkthroughs of the game.

The first rune isn't hidden at all so it makes no sense not to tell everyone where it is: It's on the floor in the final chamber of cave with the ice spirits, If I remember correctly, the second one was in the bone aery, on the cliff above town just after exiting the cave leading to the isolated harpy.
