Horse is not too slow anymore. The engine is too slow for the horse now. #lag
Ever thought that your kingdom might be unnecessarily large? ;)
It's tempting to expand, I know. The trick is though to expand only as far as necessary.
Perfect kingdom size:
right: don't expand at all.
left: restart map until you have a farm close by. Expand slightly beyond that farm and fortify. 1 farm is enough, if a second spot in close to that you can also expand that much further.
That's it, keep it small.
Any strategy that depends on restarting until the RNG favors you is scumming, and any game that requires scumming to be played enjoyably is broken.
It surely is. However, what are you going to do if either occurs:
a) no farm spot anywhere close (tried such game once, I wasn't able to sustain a functioning economy). Fortunately 90% of the time, there is a farm close enough.
b) the stone statue is behind a portal (which means probable death)
Both issues are bad game design and can put you into an unwinnable situation. Rather than wasting several hours or waiting for a patch, I prefer restarting.
It's not like I restart until I get a perfect layout, just a winnable one.
How the hell do you feed your horse? :D
Different map different style. I already destroyed one portal on the left and it was only possible because i build near it and archers were idling nearby when i send my knights out. Also i dont need farms. I have survived one map without farms or farmers for a long time. You just need the forest in between your walls, deer and bunnies give plenty. Currently i do have farms though.
Please devs don't make the horse too fast or do something other stupid with it like infinite stamina, instead do something like road upgrades (between walls or something?) or simply buff the horses speed and stamina slightly when inside the walls.
Sorry, but I kinda like being able to explore deep into the forest without it becoming a huge slog.
Oooh, that sounds highly logical. Does it work over water sources (the farming spots) as well? Horses gotta drink, too.
its no wonder games have no depth to them these days.
