Haha, that happened to me aswell on the pre-release client.
Boy was that a "wtf" moment...
But indeed, it seems to be a but with them.
I also just got beheaded by catapult while watching the siege from behind my walls. I was almost lvl 20 and was WTFF?
I dont know if this particular 'wtf' moment is very fun though. I can understand if the rock falls down on top of me and knocks my crown off. But when I'm standing behind my own fortified position and out of nowhere my crown flys off my head... Come on.
And the fact that your blacksmith is sitting in the main area when they need to be reloading the catapult is just arse. So not only is it a one shot and then 30 seconds wait for your blacksmith to slowly walk over to tend to reloading, but the catapult is capable of friendly fire on you which tends to result into an insta-lose.
Once again, remove this crappy feature.
Out of the 5 games I've played today, three have been instant-loss because of the catapult. I agree that this is a very bad decision for a sidescroller; it's not like we have freedom of movement to avoid catapult friendly-fire while still being able to see what's going on at the front lines...
I had no idea what people were talking about in this thread when I first saw it. Then I lost my king when my crown was tossed off by my own catapault. There goes 40 mins down the drain to one of the lamest, most ridiculous things I've ever seen put into a game. Don't know how else it could be described.
I like the game's difficulty and I'm really enjoying it, but losing like this is not a challenge or fun. If I told my friends about this experience when talking about the game it would not entice anyone to go out and buy it.
"WTF" moments should be funny or crazy ♥♥♥♥ that happens and makes people want to play to see it again or talk about with others. This is not that kind of moment.
Both times the crown was knocked to the enemies and the game was over before I could react. *sighs*
Like wtf are all those refunds?
It is not at all fun to lose several hours of your progress by such an annoying thing.
The same goes for accidental build orders. You should have a possibility to cancel them, at least during first 10 seconds.
For example you are willing to recruit a beggar, but instead you mark a tree. I cannot cancel it so I lose a ton of builders that wonder into a horde of monsters.
Maybe devs should also reevaluate their playtime standard. They seem to think it is ok to waste 2-3 hours of playtime for 1 try. There is achievement for 100 days. I can't see myself playing this game this long again. Mean playtime should be 30-60 minutes. Or introduce checkpoints so you can reload a certain day.
