How do I change colour?

I can change my character gender/skin colour but not the cape/dress from yellow to any other colour

Just keep on changing (hitting the down arrow key) and it should randomly change between the genders as well as what color their skin and cloths are.

Another thing to check is to see if you have a design that you have locked in (you do this by giving 3 coins to the banner by the campfire after the 1st or 2nd upgrade) if you have one locked in reset it (in the pause menu click on the shield icon and a red "X" should appear) although I don't think this would affect it but it doesn't hurt to check.

At the beginning when you are starting a new game, constantly press down or S to scroll through all the skins. When you see the one you like, stop pressing down/S and the game will begin with that skin.

I do not understand the banner upgrade because it doesn't allow you do to anything you couldn't do before. It's better to keep your 3 coins.
