KINGDOM FAQ
Hi All,

We'll try to keep an up-to-date FAQ here to answer common questions. If something is missing feel free to make a suggestion. Hope this helps.

Note that this updated FAQ is from the Kingdom: New Lands versions of the game but some of these items are reflected on Kingdom: Classic as well. Kingdom: Classic won't be receiving any new content or updates, but we'll address any BIG bugs that arise.

Why can't I buy Kingdom: Classic anymore?
We've moved on to the fully expanded version with Kingdom: New Lands, but every copy of New Lands will include Kingdom: Classic.

What's the difference between Kingdom: Classic and Kingdom: New Lands?
Kingdom: Classic is the original version of the game and the more vanilla experience of the two. Classic will satisfy your itch when it comes to wanting to play as long as possible (can you get to day 100?)

Kingdom: New Lands has a time limit in place for all the new places you can go. The game is more about trying to survive and escape as fast as possible before winter sets in.

Will Kingdom come to mobile?
Yes! Well Kingdom: New Lands is out on Android and iOS as a universal app (Apple TV, iPhone, iPad)
ANDROID[play.google.com]
iOS

Will Kingdom: New Lands come to Console?
It's out on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Is there a PlayStation 4 version on the horizon? MAYBE!?
Xbox One[www.microsoft.com]
Nintendo Switch[www.nintendo.com]

Will you add an easy mode?
No, the game is about exploring, discovering and learning through trial and error. Making an easy mode would not only be a lot of work, for us it would break the experience will worked really hard to deliver. We also strongly believe if players put in the time they will master the game and be glad they didn't have a shortcut to tame Kingdom. :)

That said, something is coming down the line that might satisfy your desire in regards to all this.

Are the AI stupid as they look?
No, they are very simple in their actions though and do as you the player command. What this means is if you send a builder out at night to chop a tree or build/repair a wall, etc... they will do just that regardless the risk or how poor a choice it was sending them to their peril. They live to serve you and will do so regardless.

Are you still updating the game and plan to add new content?
Kingdom: Classic is done, but updates are still in the works for Kingdom: New Lands.

We are also working on a standalone release of the next Kingdom called Two Crowns, which will bring in two-player co-op to the game. This will be a full priced title but past owners of Kingdom will be rewarded in some way.

What's the difference between Kingdom: Classic and Kingdom: Classic Royal Edition?
Royal Edition bundles the game with the soundtrack.

How do I access the OST?
Right click the Kingdom: Classic in Steam, go to properties, look under the DLC panel.

Can I buy the soundtrack separately from the Royal Edition?
We removed it for sale individually to put sales and profit in full control of the composer. You can find it HERE[toytree.bandcamp.com], and if you don't have it we encourage you to buy it. ToyTree's music is awesome!

What Game Engine is Kingdom developed in?
Kingdom is developed in Unity 5 and we currently upgraded to Unity 5.3.4.

That water, damn, how'd you make pixel water?
It's a lot of smart use of rendering and technique. You can read Noio's post about how he did it here: Sexy water info here!

Will any of the updates address the late game?
We'll group the many issues that occur as you play the game past day 50+. We're certainly aiming to address those in many different ways. We're definitely going to fix the 'coin orgy' that happens after constructing even just a few farms. We'll brush up the AI behavior to make them feel more responsive without breaking the fundamental indirect control gameplay. We personally feel the game shines most when you're doing a kind of rush build to beat the portals in 25-30 days. We'd like the entire experience to feel that good.

Will there be mod support?
In short: the effort to make this game fully moddable now is too much for what we would gain. We would have to get another two programmers and basically rewrite the entire game. During that time, there will be no new content. Best case: we're done in a number of months, and only then will we start to see some mods and custom content, which—while probably fun—is not guaranteed to be good. I'd rather try and create some of the content that will make the core game a more fun experience, and release that quicker. For my next game, I will definitely keep mod support in mind from the start! Having said that, a more limited form of modding might be feasible. This includes things like sharing banners, map layouts, or event timelines for specific challenges (e.g. beat 5 boss waves in a row). Whether that happens depend on which features we prioritize for a future release.

Will there be multiplayer or co-op in Kingdom?
Not in New Lands, but there will be co-op in Kingdom: Two Crowns![rawfury.com]

Multiplayer would be a very nice addition to the game. If it's local, that's fine, but I am more into playing with friends that have the game aswell and try to survive. :)

I think a cool but debatable idea for co-op would be to have the host be the king/queen and then have a friend be able to rotate through the hired peasants and do there job but the peasant that is being controlled would have a little speed buff so if he/she was a worker he could run and fix things a little faster and if he/she was a archer they could shoot faster and aim better. Idk if that would work very well but my friends and I think it would be a cool way to play co-op. heck, maybe even make something to buy upgrades for speed or attack for controlled peasants.

i would love a sandbox mode where i could just build and rule a kingdom without the greed (if that is the actual name of them) also save files would be nice to have :kflying: :kgreed::kgreed:

Please, no multiplayer. Focus all your time and money on new content and improving the content we already have.

Not every game needs to have multiplayer, especially if the game is not build for it from the ground up.

True not every game needs multiplayer BUT this is one of those games that would be a lot of fun with multiplayer think of trying to survive with your friend and building a kingdom with them

and im talking about just 2 player co-op not a full blown multiplayer with like 6 people on one map im just talking about 2 players :kflying: :kgreed::kgreed:

I dont agree with you, because adding one more player will not change anything. It will make it so you dont need to run all over the place and be in one spot, but in the end it will be same game and a lot easier (that means they will also need to rebalance the game for it to work, and that is even more work and time). Its to little benefit for to much work.

Also is it 2 or 6 player doesnt matter, because the game was not build for any multiplayer in mind. It would need a lot of work to even make 2 player game, and i think it is not worth it, as we would get a lot more if they focus on the game content.

A king and queen co-op would be cool too.

Crossing my fingers for co-op. I just bought this game for two friends after playing it for one day-I LOVE it!! I think it would be terrific to have co-op :) Maybe have it so we can designate villagers to do tasks or that we can just help each other out and such. Really adore the pixel art, and style, and how the game plays though. Keep up the awesome work!

i cant wait till they add like a upgraded shrine to get medal or iron i reckon that would be awesome and also for world generation to me MUCH more random like a different spot for camp and everything
Cuck Champion Jan 26, 2016 @ 11:55pm
oh btw the 'camp' i mean kingdom
Rivenris Jan 31, 2016 @ 12:33pm
As said above co-op would be great. Even if it'd be local co-op only (e.g. with 360 controllers).

"There will definitely not be PvP multiplayer in this version of KINGDOM" .So you're telling us there will be KINGDOM 2?

Would be nice, many ideas would require a lot of changes and the only way to make it work without breaking everything would be a sequel or spinoff. But I can say those are loose thoughts and not a plan. What I can say is a significant update is in the works that does a better job at fleshing out the endgame and bring Kingdom to other platforms like consoles and then mobile. After that who knows. :)
