How to destroy a tower?

I've set up an archer tower just outside the wall and the flying creatures just eats them up everytime. As a default behavior, the archers will automatically fills the tower up with 3 archers and everytime it gets eaten by those flying creatures. I lost all my archers and the game :(

Pay tribute to the archer statue and you'll take down those fliers pretty fast
