farms are pretty great for mid-game income so I recommend you get that farm going.

the creeks you have to upgrade them twice to get a farm going

Those are farmers, they'll do nothing until you build a farm around creeks. Also I recommend to upgrade it, since they would leave lvl 1 farm at night to go near the campfire, but they would stay at lvl2 one.
