Realism in this game?
Is it possible to play it without HUD (both in the sense of turning it off and also playing at max realism mode level, which maybe is "challenge mode"?) and also perform in the game in a way that is realistic, without "arcade jumps" or simplification like "weapon dropping from nowhere and becoming available", infinite ammos and stuff like this.

Without moving with a car that has light on and never being identified...but instead moving on foot, no regeneration of health and no easy recovery of it...
Pearmadeath? (I guess this one can be a player house rule anyway if one wants).

And other stuff? I saw the videos (official and something not official), it seems that one would need the typical few hours to understand how the game plays and then will be able to perform in a realistic simulative way in it without HUD and with a deep feeling of synchronization with the character.

I am writing here to have tips and learn from your player experiences and suggestions on this topic of realistic simulation and performing with such attitude in the game.

Yes, with a mod. Someone even wrote a guide for it.

I'm using a couple of mods and some graphics tweaks (game's config file).

1) https://www.moddb.com/mods/sniper-ghost-warrior-3-improvement-project

Just install the Unofficial Patch. Apparently the Improvement one changes a lot of the game, so probably best not to use it for the first play through.

2) https://www.nexusmods.com/sniperghostwarrior3/mods/1

No HUD, I chose the toggle mode version (caps lock).

For game.cfg tweaks:

Worth the effort IMO.

For on foot stealth attacks and ranged sniping this game is pretty close to realism if you play on hardest difficulty. There's no permadeath but it does use checkpoint saving (no quick save spamming here). If they catch you they will shoot you down fast.

If anyone can add more realism options or improvements as a follow up...

I understand the arcade jump, but infinite ammo?
Not sure but I don't think you're given infinite ammo. I mean, you lose bullets when you retry missions and checkpoints.:steamhappy:

Thanks a lot.
I can't try right of the bat now, but I would love to. And sure would love to hear more in case there are other "settings" to make it challenging "as" reality.

I have no time nor intention to play multiple times a game unfortunately so I always try the best way to play a game for one immersive realistic wild ride. I do grab all the info possible without spoiling the experience and even if it entails to play with HUD on or vanilla for a few minutes or 1 hour then to pass to the immersive mode, I accept that and do it.
But I can't play the gmae two times, like a sort of tutorial (nor need to). I really rreally envy those who manage to.

Thanks.

There is a problem when playing from a distance, so best to disable enemy radio chatter so you're unaware of their status. Other than enemy snipers their perception range is quite low, but you can still be spotting (without knowing), so without chatter you won't be aware if they're going to land mortar strikes at you.

The AI could do with a difficulty mod (flanking etc).

You really understood what I mean for realism and the immersive challenge, being in the reality, suspending disbelief and believing the game is real...Thanks.

Wow this is a very good thing. And it is possible in settings (without modding I mean) to disable that stuff?
I see the links above: can this last thing you speak of, to be reached without using the mods?

I have indeed a big problem with how games are desgined today especially in FPS games where for example Ubisoft put automatically a "awareness" ring\bell which destroys the experience of the person who wanna be really immersed in the game reality and challenged from realism in it.
You know what I mean for sure: the bell and also "visual" circle that signals to the player an enemy is about to spot him\her.
In ubisoft games the sound is not removable unfortunately.

Ok so somehow the game can be still by vanilla setting be made more realistic.

You can disable radio chatter in the game's settings. The game isn't Arma3, but with a bit of effort it's a good sniper/stealth game where you can approach missions with one or the other, or a combination of play styles. It has a basic skill tree, which isn't of much interest to me, that scores you based on play style (Sniper/Ghost/Warrior).

The game reminds me of the Farcry games. The world isn't nearly as populated, but it's far more believable given the setting. Sniper's gunplay also makes Farcry look totally arcade, so from a realism position this game is a lot better than the Farcry games, but then I am only comparing these games based on the open-world travelling design.

I would say the devs made a good effort, but the game's Cry engine on ultra settings with graphics tweaks is clearly pushed to the limits, so you will need a decent PC, with 6gb vram as a minimum (it will use close to 5gb vram on ultra).

I'm playing on a ultrawide 144hz display, but I've forced the game to run at 72hz (adaptive half refresh - driver setting). I never drop frames, but the card (GTX 1080) is being pushed to 95+% load.
Thanks.
Regarding pc I am stuck since 1 year due to GPU situation and wrong moment I stupidly decided to upgrade and ended up without GPU (and CPU) so now I am waiting to buy these components as prices will fall abruptly and I don't want to feed this scalping horror.
