I made an auto savegame backup program for SGW3, and wanted to share it

Hello, I bought the game and I heard a lot of people lost their savegame because of a bug, so I made a auto savegame backup program.

It attempts to make a backup of the savegame whenever the game closes, and if you enable auto backup every x minutes, then it will automatically backup the savegame every x minutes.

It makes a new folder for every backup, and every folder name will be the time it saved it, like: May 1, 2017. 9.25 PM.

You can run the program while in-game too.
How to use:

1). Select the folder to where it should store the backups, example: D:\Program Files\steamapps\common\Sniper Ghost Warrior 3\Savegame Backups

2). Select the folder where the game saves the savegame, which will be something like C:\Users\YourUsername\Saved Games\Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

3). Let the program stay running, or else it won't be able to backup anything while playing

3). Run the game and play.

4). Then if you have enabled the "Auto backup every x minutes" then the program should auto backup the savegame every 10 minutes, or whatever you may have set that to.

It will also attempt to backup your savegame when you close the game

Recommended:
You can enable auto backup, which lets you set the minutes of when it should do a backup.
So if you set the minutes to 15 minutes, it will backup your savegame every 15 minutes while in-game.

I have tested it many times, and haven't run into any issues. But if you experience any bugs, please tell me and I will fix them ASAP :-)

Here is how it all works:
it looks for a process with a friendly name "SGW3". When it has found it, it starts the backup timer and stops the FindProcess timer. So when the backup timer reaches the minutes it has been set to, then it copies the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 folder in Saved Games ( or whatever the user have set the path to ) and paste it in the backup folder the user has set the path to.
If the game process exits, then it stops the backup timer and starts the FindProcess timer again.

The info that is put into the program, is saved using the registry.
It saves to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/SGW Auto Backup"

I run it, put all info in, there is no save button. When I close it and re open it all info is gone.
I even tried it as administrator.

There's no need for save button, it is all automatic, means that it will automatically make a backup of the savegame when you close the game, and if you have enabled the auto backup checkbox then it will make a backup every x minutes too while in-game. The info is gone because I didn't make it save that info, but I'm going to do that now, I should have done that before I shared it, sorry :-P

I can make a force backup button, so you can force a backup manually with a button, if you want that?

Doesn't work for me, after doing what the manual says i enter the game and play through the tutorial map, and just before the drone marking of targets i quit the game, then try to start it again and i can only choose new missions each time, either from the main start or by choosing campaign start :(

You are not far enough along yet. Get to the safehouse then you will be ok.

What I ment was there is no save button on your program.
When I put the info in your program and check autosave. the only option I have is to close it.
When I open your program again it is blank and the autosave is not check.

The program has to stay open, or else it won't be able to backup the savegame.
After you fill in all the info, you just run the game, or if you already have the game open, you just play while the program is running :-) So if you have enabled the auto backup, and set the minutes to 10 minutes, which is the default, then it should make a backup of your savegame every 10 minutes, at the path you set it should save the backups.

I am working on something so it saves the info you put in, so you don't have to do it everytime. Will take a few minutes and I'll upload it :-)

OK. Can you make it so it saves the data you put in it. so when you open it you dont have to search for the folders every time?

Yes, that is what I'm working on now :-)

Just updated the program.
Now it saves the info you filled in, and the checkbox. So now you don't have to do it everytime you run the program :-)

I also added a force backup button, just in case someone wants to backup the savegame with a button.

So all you have to do now is just redownload the program from the same dropbox link :-)

My Avast flagged it as a potentially unsafe file. It sent it to CyberSecurity Safe to check it. I'm sure it's nothing but I don't know if it'll allow me access until it scans it completely.
