Weapon selection

So I have the two main weapons plus a pistol.
However I can't select the pistol.
Help?

I double-tap and nothing happens,it switches between first to second weapon but not the third.

I managed to do it,however I noticed that it doesn't actually work while double taping Y once but instead have to do it three times in a row and only then it will execute the desired action.
