Those helmets, btw, are probably some heavy alloy like steel (not exactly sure) and it would depend on the calibur of bullet. Have you tried shooting them head on with a .50 AP round?
might gonna try to hit'em with .50cal someday.
coz in this situation, i'm tryin to one shot him with an AP bullet but it didn't work.
The armored dudes with machineguns come in two flavors: One with a ballistic face mask and one with a large helmet who's also wearing a black balaclave.
Shooting the mask of the former is going to ablate the hit from .338 Normal, 7.62mm normal and 7.62mm AP rounds (not really sure about other ammo, sorry) and cause the mask to shatter. However, the back of their is exposed and, for the most par, an easy target to hit with just about anything. The expected effects happen when they are hit here.
The only thing I know for certain about the one with helmet and balaclava is their face is vulnerable to 7.62mm ammo, and the helmet should be pennable by AP ammo from there. Haven't done a lot of testing with other amo types on account of primarily just using 7.62mm semi-auto sniper rifles.
