Unplayable due to Lag

I love this game, however I am unable to play on my Mac because even just loading the game creates an unreasonable amount of lag on my entire system. Such a simply game should not lag this much. Please fix.

It is an old one, Macbook Pro (retina, early 2013)
macOS Catalina, Version 10.15.7

It is capable of playing games like Terraria and Minecraft

I don't think it was a graphics issue, it ran slow but smooth with no glitches and the lag did not cause the fans to spin up, so nothing that created heat in the device.

I am capable of playing Hook on sites such as Armour Games, without this issue
