Difference in Starbound and Starbound - Unstable
What's the difference between the normal Starbound and the Unstable version?

Unstable is like the version of the game where the Devs test out bugs and such before updating Starbound and making the Unstable version Stable. You can switch Unstable to Nightly, which is updated every single night, and is very buggy and glitchy.

actually to be a little more precise there are 3 versions if this helps you.

1....stable...not currently being updated because 1.0 is sooooo damn close its painful

2...unstable branch...not sure if this is being updated recently coz as above but is the beta branch and contains colony system ect

3...nightly/unstable...in short only opt in to this if you want alot of issues because the race to 1.0 is making this extremely caotic at the moment it either wont launch you will need admin codes to activate things or even get of ya ship and more buuuut you will see the new changes they are making if you get it to work...

With all the problems occuring on unstable right now the only difference i can find between the two is that one is playable and the other one wont even launch :P

in short the unstable build of starbound is like a test version for upcoming features for that will come to the normal or curret stable build of starbound.here what is in the unstable starbound http://starbounder.org/Version_History/Nightly#Nightly_Build_Changes.p.s the unstable will sometimes crash or not work as devs said

I just checked the versions of each type of Starbound:
Starbound (stable) content build ID 901721
Starbound (unstable) content build ID 901727
Starbound (nightly) content build ID 1125498

Nightly is so buggy and glitchy that it usually won't load for someone.

"to opt into nightly you need to opt into the beta on 'starbound - unstable', not the main starbound game. it should be in your steam library if you installed starbound on it"
