How to get rid of Unstable?
Finally started playing this game (last week) a year after buying it, hearing it was "finished".

I have an option to play Starbound... 5 options down when right clicked, I have an option to play Unstable 32bit. I have selected both, and both lead to Unstable. Upon entering, my character has been deleted??? Will it return when the developers patch it back? Or is this a case of "enjoy losing all your hard work! That's part of the game!"

I hope it's not the later. I work 40 hours a week and only get 3 hours of potential free time. If it IS in fact the case, I'm just going to drop this game until next year. I can't afford to waste what little free time I have on something stupid like that.

There's two entries for starbound in the steam library. "Starbound" and "Starbound - Unstable".
If you're after reliability, only install and use the "Starbound" version.

As far as your dataloss, you might be able to use one of the backups that's been stored in your /Starbound/storage directory. In there there should be a few files with a ".bak" extension that you can clip the .bak portion off and replace the plain ones with.

That being said, there's way better explanations on the forums for restoring backups. It would be wise to double check them as I'm kinda tired atm and might have forgotten something critical.

Hope that helps.
