Technically, you have to beat the dungeon aboard Songbringer to get Velle. You lose Jib in the process though.

You can also start the game with Velle using the seed VELLE.

How long does this take on average to do? Want to start this game with a proper co-op character for my friend.

You are asking how long it takes to get Velle in an average run?

Really depends on how many of the dungeons you are completing, the percentage of items you are getting, and your pace. You can get Velle in 1 hour as a speedrun, or can take 10-15 hours to do at a laid back pace. You can also use the secret world seed stated above to start the game with Velle
