Cost effective recipes for Paradox Crucible?
So it seems like you can feed in whatever you like but some items are more cost effective than others. I used the cheapest early game fuel source (charcoal powder has 48p for one copper) to try and calculate the trade off (cheap item -> more fuel, expensive item -> less fuel). example: growth potion (20/s) takes mainly the cost of the potion (1224c) with low fuel, which gives like 1.3s per oblivion. Then steel gear is cheaper but more fuel giving me 0.67s per oblivion (so almost twice as cost efficient) - do you have other findings?

black powder - 589c
vitality potion 480c
okay by far the best I found so far is salt with 388c
I have waaaay too many transformation potions, so using them for 3.1s and fuelling with black powder.

yes, when you have something worth more than 100 way too much of, then it is always a good idea to use it. If you have to make a transformation potion assembly line first though, it may not be so nice - i get 689c per oblivion for the price stated on the potion
I don't know how to calculate it but i suggest lavender production speed of 7.3 a minute as long as you have growth potion fertilizer you should be good.

Yea, the calculation is a bit complex and I messed up a bit sometimes due to the changes in my fab production speed. By now, I use crude shards because they are so easy and only need money input and have 10.9s base process time. I end up with 688c, which is not very cost efficient, but it is a great compromise due to the extremely good ease-of-use. Also it is nice to use leftover gentian (16.8s) or gentian powder (17.2s) you may not need at the moment you start producing it.

Panacea potions 512kp for me, tip you can make basically anything with a cauldron
wood+wood+ 1 silver coin will give you 6.5/min oblivion essence, way more that make the essence but this is the cheapest i have found way easier to heat the cauldron too.

I have a discussion about cauldrons, we can basically make anything in a 1 tile area just inputting silver coins.

Wow, I never thought about putting money in there, thank you. It feels way more efficient than creating crude shards when you do not care about money. The production speed is on the same level as broken shards (which you can make from 2 crude shards) but without the wasted footprint. The 1040c cost per essence by using silver coins not very money efficient compared to the 388c of salt of course, but I would never use salt because using charcoal powder for heating would be insane.
Sage Seeds would be one of the best all-rounders for the Paradox Crucible, going by price of item, amount of heat needed, and time it takes. Strictly going by price, both item and heat cost, lavender (not the seed) would be the cheapest, but take about twice as long as Sage Seeds.

I also did not think about using seeds, thank you! But how did you come to the conclusion that sage would be good? I get 7/min for sage seeds and 0.12/min for sage. With the cheapest heating (charcoal powder 1c per 48p) i get 574c per sage seed, which is comparable to copper bearing (575c) for cost performance. Sage is very expensive because of the very long heating (12500c).

For plants, Gentian (the output) performed better in speed for me, btw. (~17/min on average between the two outputs)

There seem to be some differences - this calculator uses 20p/c (planks), and when I set it to 48p/c (charcoal powder), the table does not update - also, the burn times seem off - I think the formula is wrong
Gentian Nectar is my current go-to for this. It's VERY fast, minimizing the fuel cost, and it basically a waste product otherwise as it had very limited use relative the the Gentian itself. The Nectar was previously the ONLY product in the entire game that I couldn't otherwise consume and had resorted to throwing away; now that I use it for Oblivion I actually wind up with a little less than I need so I backfill with either salt or Crude Shards
