I hope other aspects of the game will retain your attention and interest though !

What I can say is:
- like mentioned above: normally your field of view is only reduced when moving with a control stick
- you die when you fall off a cliff, ofc the view is going black then ^^
- oxygen is not a serious problem... it's just a little pressure. You still have enough time to look around a think about things. You should regularly look after some new oxygen bottles ofc.
If this does not match your game experience, maybe you have technical issues.
Let me add that I tried just standing there for a while by the terminal where you reset the server. I just stood there without turning around. After a few minutes, the vision thing started again and I was gone within minutes. No movement at all with plenty of oxygen. There apparently is a timer that starts when I reset the server.
I tried again and just timed the process. At about 5 minutes. the vision thing starts, Just after I am warned that I have 50 % oxygen left and about 7 minutes after I stopped moving, the screen goes black. If I leave the game and return later, it does not return me to the server room but back to the communications room.
I used this walkthrough to see what need to be done. I hated this section of the game good luck

Same for me. I thought I was buying an atmospheric walking simulator with horror-aspects and ended up with an Tomb-Raider-like parkour, time limit, stress limit and walking in a nice circle as a reward for moving through that crap, with less O2 left. If you at least would give an option to pass this puzzle for the ones who HATE this, I would go on playing. But the game ended here for me, refund requested. Congratulations for ruining the game with this puzzle! Solved a million puzzles in games so far, this one is of the worst kind.
I can understand the desire to skip puzzles just to keep playing, but I think adding that feature would be something of a disservice to the game. They help reinforce the oppressive mood of the narrative and allowing you to skip past them would undermine that. You'd wind up in a different part of the map with no info on how you got there.
If you're having trouble with a section, I'd recommend watching a play-through on YouTube or Twitch for a hint.
I just finished this game today - the ending is absolutely worth the perseverance.
