How do you destroy them, and what do they give?

Okay I have worked out that attacking them for long enough will destroy them even though no damage is shown.

A tutorial has been added for the dark stone but is not yet available (it's in the next build).
They prevent the creatures to respawn in the level the dark stone is destroyed.
