Anyone here from the Savage: Battle for Newerth days?
I'm wondering if any of the community is here from the old days.

Hey Straith, there's a few US vets floating around, probably more under different names.

Valkyrie, nota, paci, Zelek, Chief Corn, Spajj/Lagman, Klasher, tortricid to name a few.

WhiteDwarf and TripleH from Sav1 are actually on the SavRez dev team.

Talked to unreal and some of the Blood Tribe guys awhile ago as well, but haven't seen them in game.

I remember WhiteDwarf and TripleH from back then. That first list of names...Paci perhaps. It's been so long since I frequented the forums of S2 Games.

That's awesome to hear those two have joined the dev team at S2. Makes me hopeful for the future of the game that some dedicated players are a part of it now. I haven't been following what S2 Games has been up to, so SR being released was a surprise. Figured I should poke my head in and see what's going on around here. :)

Paci was team affliction's (-a-) commander. Valkyrie, nota and unreal were involved with Jebus and the EX2 mod, and clansavage.com. Others mentioned from various clans: Demons (DM), TFU, Tree Thugs (TT).

You were in Ultimate Assassins (UA) then played a bit with TRoN, right?

We'll see where the game goes at this point, agreed it needs much improving.

We're trying to do a PUG this weekend if you're interested, see thread in the Competitive subforum.

Wow, good memory. I also helped write the code for doing a clan tournament and reporting a long while back. Plus the Team Status Mod. :)

I should be around this weekend, though I'm on the fence about the game in it's current state.

Its a shame that the game is built for the vets. When I attempted to play it back in the day, I was met with the vet attitude of arrogance.

I hope that the lot of you have chilled out and realized with those attitudes (and constantly kicking a new commander from learning) worked against you. Lets not make the same mistake again.

To be clear, the only reason I havent bought this game yet, is due to the vet attitude I had to deal with before.

I even attempted to be a host for a NA West server, but was denied for no real reason.

Sorry to hear that Kaos. I would recommend new commanders seek out lower population games or more n00bie friendly servers. The other side of the coin, if you will, is how greatly the role of commander impacts the enjoyment the rest of the players. A bad commander will be slow on tech and/or waste the teams resources making poor choices. So while I am sympathetic to your point of players being intolerant of new commanders, the enjoyment of the folks playing should also be taken into account.

Yup im the vet who can be extermel helpful or an extreme ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ depending on how the new commander acts.

Like if he is playing in a low population game, and drops a random sublair in base. Then says "oh that building does nothing for tech, that was stupid, sorry team". I am totally fine with that as it shows that he is learning.

But if he is playing on a 16v16 server, and is mining gold. And like 6 people on the team use both chat and VOIP and tell him to stop mining gold and only mine stone. Well if he continues to mine gold then yes, I will have an attitude because he is ruining the enjoyment for everyone else in the game.

Been around since the start of Savage 1, moved to Savage 2 till it died, now this game... till it... dang...

Sad that the Newerth Community didn't adopt the new game. Its a near carbon copy.

Could never get into it, got mocked entirely to much for just trying to learn the complicated mechanics. Tried Savage XR for a few days, really liked it, but the community was to small and just couldn't compete against all the people who were playing for years, was excited to hear about this one, but doesn't seem much different.

Learned about Savage 1 by a magazine that shippped the 2.0e free copy. The really good old days. I even modded Savage 1 and used its source code to compile my own copy. I fell in love with the game. Sad to see this game die.
cough cough savage XR cough cough

Don't buy it. The game is dead. I mean, you could play single player vs bots, but that is up to you.
