Need help with the bait boat

Hi

I finally got my baith boath(inc mark rod and bait rot)

But somehow i dont know how the bait boat works ....i know how to travel with it, but i dont know when the boat reach a good spot.

Is there an indept bait boat guide?

the point is......i know how to use the boat,i was not clear about my question

Its the fishfinder were i have troubel with.....i can find dots and know how connect the lines and such

The thing is i fish in pinetree lake and somehow i cant find other stuff then mud when i use the marker rod after i found a place with lots of dots

So that is my point

This seems like an okay spot with the squares?

line one 2 and 3 i got them on that spot with the bait boat

but after 30-50 throws with the marker rod it keep saying its Mud!!!

would be cool i realy was scouting the whole day with the boat but never any Gravel or other spot found then Mud.

or a Marker rod bug?

The line of dots on your image are well above/off the lake bed/bottom, so that can't be gravel.

The dots indicate the sonar has hit something other than the lakebed, either weed, gravel or fish. Generally weed and gravel and near the lakebed & fish can be any depth, looking at your screenshot, i'd say that's fish.

Another good way to tell if it's fish is by stopping the baitboat & seeing if the dots move, although fish stop over food so it's not always the case.

No, what I am saying is the dots would have to be on the bottom for it to be gravel, like in the image posted by Limey21.

I think I know where you are going wrong, you are casting out and the first thing/pop-up you see is "mud", you need to wait and let the marker float find the depth, it will then show if you are on gravel or not.
