I need help with the MAX chain and 1 million points achievement

As title says, I can't figure out how to consistently get high chains, I randomly got into 20+ chains but it was more luck than talent and I also think I'll need to be able to do it consistently for the other achievement as well..
any help, info, video, guide, tutorial is much appreciated!
